I love the idea that Legend was purposefully forged by the goddesses in order to make sure that this time, the hero wouldn't fail.
They chose a child with no bitterness, with a golden heart and an inability to say no to those in need, so that he would not become like the First Hero, who was despairing even before his battle with Demise. They chose someone who lived knowing about the evil, made sure he would learn of the stories rather than being thrown, blind, into trouble like the Hero of Skies. Hylia made him one of her blood so that divine magic would flood his veins, strengthening him against evil, preventing his corruption like the Hero of the Four Sword. He was taught and trained by his sword, not by men or fairies or anyone else, to make sure he would be guided to their will, taught all he needed to know, to prevent his death like the Hero of Time.
He bears the triforce since birth, raised with the knowledge of it and taught of the heroes of the past. He is from a line of knights whose duty is to defend Hyrule, brought up on their morals, on their laws, with their sense of duty to the crown and kingdom. He knows the worth of the Triforce and that such sacred powers cannot be used for paltry things like personal gain. He was called when pure-hearted but still powerful, and he's been slowly forged into the Greatest of Hylian Heroes (as per Nayru) through his adventures and the lessons he's learned in them.
Time finds himself wondering why Legend's voice sounds like the call of the goddesses in answer to the unspoken cries from his soul. Legend's not HIS, but he can't shake the feeling that Legend exists because of him somehow. Because in another world, a prayer from a dying hero and a desperate princess was heard by the goddesses, and they began to forge The Hero of Legend, but he doesn't know that, all he knows is that Legend joining at his side with the other heroes makes him breathe a breath of relief for reasons he can't name, makes him feel assured that help is here, even though he didn't know he wanted it.
Sometimes I just want to touch on the fact that Legend is not, in fact, the worst possible human being
He has friends
He has so many friends!
"No, Time, don't shoot that Dodongo! No, yeah, that's my old friend Demitri! He totally is chill and won't keep attacking if you stop hitting him, guys. Wait you want proof? Okay! Hey, Dimitri! It's Link! Yeah, see? Told you!"
Or you know, there's also Ricky and Moosh. Twilight is over here complaining about Wild's choice in steeds and Legend is sitting there wondering if now would be a bad time to mention that he got carried around in a murder-rabbit's front pocket, or that yeah, he's ridden bears too, but his flies.
Oh, the robbers who are holding them up on the road? The other heroes are all preparing for a beat down but Legend just groans and starts chewing out Ghanti because, seriously girl? You've filled the quota for how many times you can rob me this year! Find another sucker!
And when they run into the actual goddesses? Legend greets them all so chill, just a "hey, Din! Long time no see, how's things with the circus troupe? Nayru, how's Ralph doing? Did he finally master a spin attack or is he still struggling with that? No? Aw well, sucks to be him! And hey, Farore! Yeah, I'm going okay, how are you?"
Meanwhile the other heroes are just...okay, yeah, this is happening. Legend's friends with the goddesses and some strange animals. But then there's the witch girl who keeps running into them, seemingly targeting Legend? And every sage seems to know this guy, but there's like.....14 of them? And no matter where they go, it's just like "Hey, Vasu! Got any bigger ring boxes in? No. Aw well, I have some duplicates to trade." The librarian? The random seed farmers? The village mayors? The soldiers?
Legend knows literally everyone. The heroes can't even keep track of the names but they still keep coming. Legend finally starts telling stories of his adventures and the amount of people he names is just confusing. "No, no, Syrup is the old witch and Irene is her granddaughter." "Who's Rosa? Oh, she's a pop-star I dated this one time." "Raven? Oh, well, he's sort of a hero but not a chosen hero and he looks like Time but minus a decade and most of the trauma. Also he's my ancestor. Anyways..."
He just...knows everyone.
No one is sure how to reconcile the wary and guarded hero they know with the apparent social butterfly he just has to be to know all these people!

Honestly, now I think about it, Legend hasn’t really had a moment in LU yet where he’s absolutely popped off. He’s done plenty to help the team don’t get me wrong but he hasn’t really had a dramatic solo moment yet in battle yet. He hasn’t shown off one of his crazy abilities, or had a proper 1v1 with dink yet, or anything Seriously badass.
It’s funny cause he is arguably the most powerful link and yet in LU he’s just been chilling and mostly just stuck to his sword/other more general items
What I’m saying is I hope we see him absolutely go off in combat SOON please
I made this post about how Legend hasn’t really used any of his most OP items in combat yet. The reason I gave for it in the post was that Jojo is saving his more powerful abilities for bigger battles yet. But there’s a second reason, too.
Legend has been on six adventures by himself before LU. Sure, he had friends to help him, but for the most part, he was fighting powerful foes totally alone. Save for Triforce Heroes, I guess, but I haven’t played that game so I don’t exactly know its deal.
My point is - with how proficient a solo adventurer he is, and combined with his general snark, you might assume that Legend is shit at teamwork, and operating in a group. But that couldn’t be further from the truth.
In fact, Legend is pretty much the braincell of this group of heroes, and is playing a vital role of support. I will prove it to you in this post. So let’s go.
