Being in the Present, Focused on the Now
from: “Creating Momentum in Your Sphere of Influence: Becoming an Entrepreneurial Vortex: Part I”
In this very moment you will either fail or succeed. Either you will read this sentence, being completely aware of what the words mean or you are thinking about a million other ideas: “I wonder if my company has made any sales today, I wonder if my children are learning important lessons in school, I hope it doesn’t rain, I love my new vehicle,” and a myriad of other small invading thoughts. As an entrepreneur, you are your greatest enemy. Your self-talk determines the amount and quality of momentum you are seeking to create personally which directly affects your organization. If you have not learned how to stay focused upon the very task that you are performing you will fail in many areas. If you are driving and thinking about anything else, you may cause an accident. If you are sitting listening to a lecturer, you can miss the next statement that opens up a new idea that could make you millions. If you are playing golf and don’t see the lightning storm, well, you won’t finish this book now will you?

Creating Momentum in Your Sphere of Influence: Becoming an Entrepreneurial Vortex: Chapter Four: A Religious Poverty Mentality: Protecting your Finances from Manipulators
"Many entrepreneurs, who were raised or influenced by religious institutions, subconsciously believe that poverty equates to spirituality. This hidden, incorrect mindset might have been ingrained from their childhood. While this may sound ridiculous to some, many others are innocently bound to this dangerous principle and to those who perpetrate it."
I remember one of my clients who was in significant debt. I gave him an ultimatum that if he wanted us to coach him he would give me his word that he would not give one more financial gift to any person under any circumstance until after he was debt free. Owing money to others while giving away what is rightfully due to them to someone else is a lack of integrity. After he agreed, in the next 18 months he was completely debt free and able to donate larger sums of revenue to those individuals and organizations he had a heart to help.

“How to Create Momentum in your Sphere of Influence”: Chapter 7: "A Dominant, Aggressive Authority: Taking Ownership of Your Sphere of Influence"
"If you enter your sphere your heart becomes connected to that location. And where your heart is buried there your feet will follow.
"Where is your sphere of influence, how do you find it and what happens if you are living and working outside of this sphere? What if you don’t know where your sphere is located? These are a few of the questions that need to be addressed."
My business partner, David Wilkinson, invited me up to the Nelspruit / Mbombela, the capital of our State / Province of Mpumalanga, South Africa in March of 2011.
I was meant to stay only 3 weeks.
I'm still here! 6+ years later!
Why??? Because I entered my sphere of influence. How do I know this? Because our business in Nelspruit doubled in those first 3 weeks. And doubled again in the next 30 days.
One way to find your sphere of influence, is to see what results follow when you try something in a new area!

"Imagine yourself being a large tree for a moment. Everything flows together in a perfect ecosystem. The life blood of a tree is the sap. All of the nutrients from the soil, roots, leaves, water and sunshine all create this life giving, sometimes sticky fluid. You are no different. Your personal energy is your sap. The dilemma is when another individual comes along and directly or indirectly steals your sap.
Unlike trying to get sap from a tree by using a drill, a Sap-Sucker has an invisible emotional vacuum cleaner. This person has the power to walk up, turn it on, and suck your energy dry without you even knowing it took place. Their negative thoughts, words and energy immediate decrease your momentum. The more aware you are of your own momentum the easier it will become to feel your energy being drained by another. Ask yourself who drains you and do not be surprised if some of the people on your list might be related to you!"
I had this yesterday! The person I was communicating with had NO desire that I understood anything that they said! Have you ever met anyone like that? It's exhausting! To confirm my opinion, I asked them, "Are you interested in me understanding what you've said?" They replied: "No."
Sap-Suckers come in many forms. Beware!
"There are three practical methods of protecting yourself from sap-suckers... "

“ At the core of very entrepreneur is creativity and brilliance in that which motivates them to reach the marketplace with their brand. Many times, however, speed is founded upon fear rather than clarity of purpose. Instead of launching a new project because of its strategic importance, there is a rush to produce their product/service before their competitors in the marketplace. Therefore, they make quick decisions that are impetuous14 and are driven by the need to surpass others and use speed as their choice of weapon. ”
(from our debut book which placed in the top 5% of books published worldwide, before it even had a title!, i.e. :
“How to Create Momentum in your Sphere of Influence”: Chapter 3 : “A Killer Positive Mindset:Murdering a Start-up through Over-exaggerated Enthusiasm”)
We’ve seen this with our clients around the world: one client in particular comes to mind. For sake of anonymity, “Bob” felt (notice the word - a key of impetuosity!) that a fine-dining restaurant was needed in the town that he lived in. Because Bob was so convinced of his feeling, he was ready to put 10′s of thousands of dollars behind the feeling!
We advised that he first test if there was a need in the market place!
We suggested to Bob that he invite to his home 20 of his friends, charge a nominal fee of $10 - in order that they be committed (another secret of momentum: money releases it!) - and that Bob provide a full 3 course meal.
Then, Bob and ourselves devised a few simple unlocking questions - asked during the duration of the evening - that would provide the unique feedback we needed, to determine if there was a need!
And the result??? Nobody wanted fine-dining food where in the town where he lived.
Save yourself time and money: test the market place!
