Inspired by the song “No Reason”, which plays when Anya tells Curly she’s pregnant.

Seeing her floating in space, holding herself, was very impactful. To me, somehow, it didn’t emphasize her isolation, even though it does carry that feeling, but rather her self compassion. She feels alone, she is dealing with it alone because nobody adequately helps her, but she responds to it very well. Her empathy with herself remains in tact. The scene feels very embryonic, which obviously relates to the pregnancy, but also like she is nurturing herself. She’s hides the gun. She holds space for herself. She looks for support. She asks for help when she can’t do something.

something about how they both want to reclaim power with different interpretations of what that is. How they both become spectacles in a way (Jeanne’s witchcraft, the missing tulpar crew mystery). How their only care at first is saving other people. How they both learn to accept themselves leading to such different outcomes, but also the same outcome. How they both decide they deserve freedom and happiness and pursue it so oppositely.
