i've duly noted your usage of "matey", coupled with a considerable preference for elisions, and i, being a fan of local phonetics and vernacular in addition to fawning over this blog and its manager, pondered what sort of accent you might have, if any or lack thereof. i respect any decision to conceal personal aspects, yet i wonder... regardless, i greatly appreciate your presence on my dashboard, and i find that you are an perplexing sweetheart of a "weird fella." i hope you have a lovely day!

since I’m originally from Scandinavia, and have friends in the UK.But yes, I do apologize about being so vague by just saying I’m Scandinavian. I’m mostly comfortable not stating where I’m from. At least for now, that is.But I suppose a vague answer is better than none. I hope that fullfilled some of your curiosity.And oh, thank you very much! I’m flattered! Thank you for the compliment. Though most of the stuff I draw here is just kinda chill and layed back, not being too compleks or serious, so it is pretty easy for people to use these small tips. I’ll make it short and simple.

Tip one: Never use black for shading. It doesn’t compliment the colours, and it’s not how shadows work in real like, either. It makes the colours mushy and won’t make things pop. So, always pick a warmer or colder colour for highlights and shadows. unless you are going for a specific style, of course

Tip two: Coloured line-art usually makes things look alive and neat. It compliments the other colours there might be in the picture. It’s also neat for creating atmopheres. You can either start with a chosen dark colour (like I do) or colour your lineart afterwards on a special layer. (which is really fun to go crazy with) 

Tip three: I enjoy rough watercolouring, using different colours, and blending them without smoothing the textures out too much. Digitally though, you can pretty much go mental with it, as long as you have a textured blend/smudge tool. It’s a fast way to colour, as well. You can see the red scribble above. That’s how I colour some of my sketches. Just colouring things in like a toddler, and then smudging it.

I hope this helped at least a little bit. And I appologize if you were looking forward to a lexture about the different complimenting neat ways of shading, and mixing colours depending on light and backgrounds. But there are many great already made turtorials out there that have explained these things better than I could. So I felt like it would be better for you to look for one of those if you need that kind of thing 

But keep experimenting! And take inspiration from things and artist you like! And never be afraid of using references.
