"capitalism is natural!" capitalism didn't exist until fairly recently in human history. it had to be introduced to much of the world because it wasn't common practice. before capitalism, people traded goods and services instead of money, and many societies were collaborative to ensure the survival of the group.

"humans are inherently selfish!" then why did early humans care for people they weren't even related to? they cared for the disabled, the sick, the elderly, people who would never be able to provide the labour needed for basic survival. they lived in groups, not on their own. resources were shared, not hoarded.

"every society ends up using capitalism." there are still isolated tribes that don't use capitalism. the only reason much of the world uses capitalism is because it was forced upon them, through colonization and war. there have been many instances of societies attempting to break away from capitalism, being successful, and then another nation, often the usa, does a coup and installs capitalism again.

"socialism/communism is doomed to fail!" what system do you think people used before capitalism? sure, the terms weren't around back then, but most societies used some form of what we would refer to as socialism or communism today.

the human race would not have survived had capitalist values been natural. we would have died out long before even having the terms to describe it.

Every time a "communist" tyranny murders a ton of citizens, the poorest of us, the minorities among us, and rebels who exercise free speech, are the most vulnerable. The USSR, China, North Korea, these governments oppress the people. The amount of evidence is STAGGERING. The denial is like Holocaust denial, particularly when there is specifically genocides involved.

IF socialism hinged on supporting governments like the USSR, socialism would be wrong. Luckily, it fucking doesn't. WE DO NOT NEED AUTHORITARIAN STATES.

idk about anyone else but it really feels like måneskin have speed ran their whole rise and fall in like 5 years.

like really they peaked at or maybe even before winning eurovision in 2021. They fully wrote and produced genuinely original and poetic songs with meaning straight from the heart. And hearing them was like damn these people are still kids but they write like theyve lived for decades. They have serious talent.

And il ballo della vita was beautiful and teatro d'ira: Vol I was a masterpiece. And of course then they won eurovision with zitti e buoni. And it was like wow this band has it all they still sing in their native language and they have genuine musical talent and they wear cool clothes and say fuck homophobia and fuck gender norms. What's not to love?

But then their win made them big. And they hit America. And it was like hey they seem pretty grounded, like they're still pretty young and impressionable but it'll probably be fine and good for them.

And they went on long ass tours and their music hit mainstream radio they and opened for the rolling stones and seemed to be having a great time. But slowly but surely, except not that slowly, they changed. Suddenly their next album most the songs are in English. Their fashion sense is more "normal". Sure, there's one promo with a guy in a wedding dress, but besides that novelty factor, it's all pretty tame.

And then it all went quiet. And now they're "on a break" after just one album with Sony. But at least from the outside it very much looks like Damiano has dropped his buddies to pursue a solo career as another copy-paste attempted Hollywood heart throb. And the boy who wished since he was a little kid to be a rockstar and has been a talented lyricist since he was a teen is now releasing the dullest most generic pop songs imaginable. But the world is already saturated with that, so he's not on the mainstream radio anymore, and he's sure as hell not opening for the rolling stones.

Idk it's just sad. So many artists dream of breaking America but way too often America breaks them. And with måneskin I really hoped it'd be different because they seemed so grounded and so authentic. But they really have come crashing down as fast as they shot to fame.

But that's just my personal take of course and I'm sure it's plenty controversial.

I feel like some wanna-be punks could use to take a page out of the Bible and realize that yes, giving up things in the name of your morals is SUPPOSED to be hard sometimes. Yes it’s hard to let go of getting things cheap for a good price when you’re poor like Temu and Shein. Yes it’s hard to give up “the series that kept you alive as a child” or whatever because it’s fucking problematic. But if you can’t even do those like basic ass things how exactly are you going to put others first when it really comes down to it? Only when it’s easy and convenient for you? Only when it suits you? Conditionally?
