Depending on who you ask, Whisper is a research organization, a secret military operation, or a force dedicated to ridding the world of the abnormal.

But whatever it may or may not be, whisper is dangerous, and it is not to be reckoned with.

summary:

Cassie Brymer wants an adventure. She has wanted one for as long as she can remember, anything to escape the small town she feels trapped in. 

Being hunted for her abilities was not what she had in mind. 

Cassie now finds herself on the run alongside five others like her. Together, they must evade capture, learn to use their abilities, and uncover the mystery surrounding their pursuers. But the clock is ticking, and as anyone knows, you can only run so long.

If they all want to survive, they have to be ready for anything.

☆ SYNOPSIS 

over twenty years after an interplanetary war over a plant with extraordinary properties–used both for healing and destruction–ended with the signing of the Neo-Interplanetary Alliance Treaty, the planet nations of sector 021 live in relative peace under the supervision of the Alliance Council. 

on the planet of Sayntagnesia, a brilliant young aspiring xenobotanist, Petra, snags her very first gig with the Alliance-sponsored Interplanetary Environmental Research Association: leading a small expedition to the less explored corners of the sector to study unfamiliar plant forms. however, she finds herself at the head of a mismatched, unqualified team, with ex-conman Finneas reluctantly serving as the pilot; the eccentric daughter of an Alliance councilor, Azami; and Petra’s own clingy younger sibling Valyan stepping in as a last minute replacement.

as Petra struggles to make the best of what she is given and fulfill her duties to the IERA, it soon becomes clear that there may be more to this expedition than simple research, and she, as well as the rest of the team, must set aside differences and personal convictions to get to the truth–and stop a growing threat to the Alliance’s era of peace.

☆ CHARACTERS

PETRA LACROYE | 21, she/her. the inquisitive and hardworking mind placed at the head of the expedition, Petra is always prepared for a challenge, especially in the name of science–but what she’s willing to do in the name of truth has yet to be tested.

FINNEAS BECKER | 22, he/him. a former criminal with exceptional piloting skills, Finneas is dragged into serving the IERA to escape a worse sentence and must keep his unwanted plant-based powers hidden from those who might seek to use them.

AZAMI BLACK-MIZUHARA | 20, she/her. with two high profile public figures from vastly different planet nations as parents, Azami is desperate to flee the suffocating expectations set on her–and this trip might be just the place to do it.

VALYAN LACROYE | 19, they/them. behind that ever-present smile, Valyan is secretly terrified of being separated from their older sister and gladly steps in to fill a last-minute vacancy, but their cheerful façade is threatened in the face of new trials.

hello, my name is r. jakob!

i’ve made this specific blog back in december of last year, but i’m just now getting around to using it. i had a previous writeblr blog, but have since abandoned that one.

now, onto the fun stuff!

- ABOUT ME -

My name is R. Jakob, 20 years old, American, white, he/zie/they.

I’m currently working in a meat market at a grocery store in Texas. I plan on going back to college at some point in the future, but for now, I’m fine taking a break. I’m an infj, libra/libra/sagittarius, and am often sad.

I also really like making wips and then abandoning them, but I do also listen when someone has a favorite wip of mine, and try to get more content for it!

My two current wips are Growth, and M. Sullivan.

Growth follows the story of a set of twins as they learn to navigate the world after being raised by a horrible family and having horrible relationships.

M. Sullivan follows the story of M. Tierney Sullivan as he journeys to learn who he truly is.

Falling - Harry Styles

The rain was slow and steady, and his hands wrapped around the mug in front of him as he longed for the warmth he had so lacked. There was no way that he was showing up. He supposed he didn’t blame him - he wouldn’t want to see him, either. 

The waitress looked at him with soft, apologetic eyes that he didn’t deserve. “You want a piece of pie, hon?” she asked him in a soft Southern drawl. “We got some blueberry left, if you want some.” 

He didn’t deserve the pie. But he said yes to it anyway. He especially didn’t deserve the heavy-handed slice that she’d placed in front of him. His stomach turned just looking at it. He regretted saying yes. This wouldn’t be the first time. 

His rings clinked against the cracked porcelain of the mug he held. He brought it to his lips, taking a slow sip of black coffee that he really didn’t like. Maybe this was his way of punishing himself. Drinking coffee that sunk like a stone to the pit of his empty stomach, a punishment undone by the steaming plate of blueberry pie in front of him. 

His phone vibrated in his pocket, and he jumped, coffee sloshing over the rim of the mug. “Fuck,” he groaned. The heat seeped through his shirt, making it cling to his forearm.

here’s a fun little scene i wrote that i could very conceivably use as a “cold open” for one of my episodes! i’m not sure exactly where i’ll end up putting it, but it’ll probably be somewhere in the second half of the series, once the team has loosened up around each other.

The relative silence of the car was broken by a long and loud yawn from the backseat.

“Good afternoon,” Petra called back from the passenger’s seat as Valyan blinked open their eyes. “Did you sleep well?”

“Afternoon?” Valyan echoed groggily.

“You’ve been out ever since we got into the car this morning,” Petra informed them. “I told you, you shouldn’t have been up so late.”

“That was Azami’s fault,” they protested, stretching their arms across the seat.

Next to them, Azami pushed their hand out of her face. “You’re the one who wanted to teach me how to make bracelets out of Twinkle Tart wrappers,” she accused.

“And you agreed,” Valyan mumbled, struggling to sit upright. “Anyway, I had the wildest dream. We were in some sort of apocalypse.”

“That’s nice,” Petra said absently.

“There were these evil plants that were taking over the world,” Valyan continued, “and this whole trip was some sort of quest to figure out what was causing it.“ 

"I think you ate too many Twinkle Tarts last night.”

Valyan reached forward to smack their sister’s arm. She moved out of the way at the last minute, and their hand hit the side of the seat instead.

“Petra’s right,” Finneas inserted without taking his eyes off the road. “You’ve got it all wrong. We’re not just on this trip to find out what’s causing the apocalypse; we’re trying to stop it.”

30 Day Writing Challenge

hey everyone! i’m trying to challenge myself to get back into writing, and i’d like to challenge everyone to do it with me! you don’t have to start on a certain day - just jump in whenever you want! 

Day 1: Write for the duration of one song. Do that again for another song. Or don’t. Or do it again for a whole playlist. It’s totally up to you! Don’t think or plan what you’re going to write. Just write. Stop the second the song ends. 

Day 2: Find an image that really speaks to you. Write something based on it. It can be an image of anything, whether it be fanart for a specific fandom or just a picture of scenery. 

Day 3: Find a one sentence prompt from tumblr or pinterest and write a piece about it. Length doesn’t matter. 

Day 4: Find a book in your home and flip to one of the following pages: 28, 106, 242. Find one of the following sentences: 10th, 23rd, 38th. Use that sentence to write a piece.

Day 5: I read somewhere that Elvis Presley still gets hundreds of Valentines sent to his address every year. I don’t know how true it is, but it’s kind of cute. Write about someone who wrote one of those Valentines.
