The Poet, an introduction post
This was written for @originalfictionbigbang . Well, more like, thanks to that I got what I needed to write. I was partnered with the wonderful @writings-of-a-narwhal for this project, so I must also give a thank you to them.
I have decided to post the story here on Wattpad. This is the short introduction and I am sad to say the story is not yet finished! Getting there, though! Soon enough I will get Tumblr to work on post it chapter by chapter here as well.

Summary:
We carry darkness not in our hearts but in our minds and our stomachs. It is warm, wet and thick. It covers the walls of our skull like mold and occasionally, it bleeds. When it does, darkness takes over consciousness and then comes out the monster that lives under our beds, crawling up and curling beside us, breathing into our necks. Nightmares haunt the night, and if we are lucky enough, by the time the sun comes up, the monster will be gone and we will wake up.
The monsters that crawled out of darkness always exist in it, and they always have. As men raised their civilization, the monsters came out less and less, but they never really left. They surfaced only to devour men, and haunt them. Some humans learnt to control these beasts; some learnt to create them. Some, however, learnt how to end these foul beings and how to protect mankind from them. Die Taste, an underground organization whose roots go deeper than many civilizations, has dedicated itself to hunt these beasts and men who side with them down, and kill the beasts while keeping the foul men under lock. They were the key to keeping the beasts crawling in darkness, making them too scared to surface, and they took pride in it.
After the 19th century, the beast sightings decreased significantly, causing Die Taste to almost lose its place within the world. Their numbers dropped as their name was no longer spoken among people. Yet they stayed, still sworn to hunt the beasts.
This story is about how a boy who woke up only to come face to face with the monster under his bed, and how he realized how much he would have prefered to never wake up from his nightmare as the beasts slowly started to come out of darkness. This time not crawling, but running, with their teeth bared.
Theodore is no one, as far as he is concerned. He has a creative writing diploma and all he is able to do with it is to write on horror blogs. At least, he thinks to himself, he is not ordinary. At least he has his... dreams and nightmares. At least he is able to write. After all, what is a poet with no dreams? What is a poet if not poetry itself?

WIP Introduction
Genre: Fantasy || POV: Third person || Setting: Earth || Word count goal: 30k ||Stage: First draft
Nightmares haunt the night and if we are lucky enough, by the time the sun comes up, the monster will be gone and we will wake up.
The monsters that crawled out of darkness always exist in it, and they always have. As men raised their civilization, the monsters came out less and less, but they never really left. They surfaced only to devour men and haunt them. Some humans learnt to control these beasts, some learnt to create them. Some, however, learnt how to end these foul beings and how to protect mankind from them. Die Taste, an underground organization whose roots go deeper than many civilizations, has dedicated itself to hunt these beasts and men who side with them down and kill the beasts while keeping the foul men under lock. They were the key to keeping the beasts crawling in darkness and making them too scared to surface and they took pride in it.
After the 19th century, the beast sightings decreased significantly, causing Die Taste to almost lose its place within the world. Their numbers dropped as their name was no longer spoken among people. Yet, they stayed, still sworn to hunt the beasts.
This story is about how a boy who woke up only to come face to face with the monster under his bed and realized how much he would have preferred to never wake up from his nightmare. As the beasts slowly start to come out of darkness, this time not crawling, but running, with their teeth bared; Theodore must find a way to walk back into the sunlight, perhaps with some help.
Characters
Theodore Abby Bell
Theodore was just a child when he met a monster. After that night, all nights were the same. A monster would crawl out of his stomach and go into his mind, haunting his dreams. What could he do when he felt like he was going insane? He could write, of course, he could pour it out onto poetry. Getting a creative writing degree did not work as he had hoped it would, but he is still happy with it. If he was to be haunted by monsters, then he would write them on horror blogs and it would be his way of living. He is glad, in a way. He is glad that he is not ordinary, and he is glad that he never has to pretend to be a poet. Because he knows he is the poetry he writes. The poet, and the poetry, as it should be.
Joseph Eichrodt
Joseph has spent most of his relatively short life to study and research. He went to a medical school and got his degree as a doctor, but could never really help people with it. He simply does not have the time from all this monster hunting nonsense, and when he is not doing that, he is using his diploma to experiment on these beasts. It is fine, though, he knows it helps the world even though the world does not know it.
Notes:
You see, this is the first time I am starting a fiction novella, and it makes me absolutely hyper. Started all this because I wanted to join @originalfictionbigbang ! How wonderful is that!
Excerpt:
Theodore slowly sat up in his bed and pressed himself against the wall to be completely in darkness. It was then that he heard the soft humming of it, gently draping itself over his shoulders like a blanket. Comforting as it was, it still felt odd to hear the sounds it made. The humming of it was gentle and felt natural, but as it shifted its seemingly fragile body let out moans and grunts. Occasionally something would crack and Theo could swear that it was the sound of bones breaking. He winced every time he heard the crack but couldn’t leave the darkness because the light was much crueller against him.
He reached out to touch the darkness, slowly placing his hand on it. He did not know what he expected but wetness wasn’t it. He was shocked, how could one touch the lack of light? He pulled his hand to himself quickly and curled into himself, deciding it was best to wait for the morning sun. He didn’t dare to look away from his wooden window when he felt the darkness stop shifting. The humming was gone and its body no longer made a sound. Theodore found himself wishing for the sounds to come back, this silence felt as if it gave the word of something horrible that was about to happen. He took a deep breath and allowed the cold air to burn his lungs, wanting to be aware of the darkness and not fall into its comforting trap. His whole body shivered when darkness slowly lifted off of him, moving as rhythmic as it had before. It unfurled just to curl back into itself, pressing its body to the ceiling.
The whole room except for that one corner was bright now. Theodore refused to look, but he knew that corner was still dark. The cracking of bones was back with such intensity that it made him want to puke. Soon enough it left its place to a wet sound of something going through flesh and Theodore let a quiet sob out when he felt something drip on his shoulders. He still didn’t look.

Introduction :D
Yes yes, this is yet another WIP blog, probably will go inactive after the first WIP is... not a WIP anymore. Perhaps that’s not what will happen, we will see.
I am quite new at this thing, but you see, how can you learn if you do not start? The answer is simple: you can’t! So here I am.
The name is Ece but I do answer to... pretty much everything as long as I see you. You can call me Bat too! I often write for the dark side of the things with blurred lines between black and white. I like exploring the bad thoughts of people and writing the gods as monsters!
My pronouns are she/her, I am Bi and I am from Turkey and am currently studying to be a real life cleric!
