You can’t use mana from Eldrazi Temple’s second ability to pay for World Breaker’s activated ability.
I know, I know… it really really looks like you should be able to do so, but you can’t. Why you can’t boils down to the last few words in Eldrazi Temple’s CC ability: “colorless Eldrazi.”
When a card refers to a creature type (or permanent card type or subtype) this way, it means permanents of that type on the battlefield and not other cards of that type in other zones.
World Breaker’s activated ability can only be activated while it’s in your graveyard, which makes it an Eldrazi card in your graveyard at that time and thus it’s ineligible to spend the mana from Eldrazi Temple’s second ability on.
Similarly, you can’t spend the CC from Eldrazi Temple to pay for the triggered abilities of Bearer of Silence, Eldrazi Obligator, Vile Redeemer, or Gravity Negator since these costs are neither the cost to cast the spell nor to activate their abilities.
Compare the wording of Eldrazi Temple’s second ability with the wording of Cultivator Drone’s mana ability. That last bit on Cultivator Drone, “or pay a cost that contains {C},” exists specifically for the cards like World Breaker and Bearer of Silence so that Cultivator Drone’s mana can be spent to pay these costs.
This post was requested by a friend of mine that works in R&D at Wizards, and who am I to say no to a request like that? :)

Topi’s Daily Card #535: Skyscribing
When people think of hug based card draw, Prosperity is one that comes to mind. Skyscribing is generally the other, and to me has a lot more use out of it. Being able to forecast it while using up mana on your turn, is nearly uncounterable spare for a stifle or anything like that. Forecast is potent for that very reason, helping you get through countermagic that you know is on the other side of the battlefield, for a bit of an elevated price. When the coast is clear of course, you can cast this spell for whatever X you can muster, potentially with the right cards eliminating or vastly reducing your opponent’s chances of winning. In the right deck it can be a game ender, and in other builds it can just be a fun way to get everyone to draw cards. It has tons of uses for different decks, and personally I see this new art as superior to the old one. Whenever I build a hug styled deck, this card is sure to find a spot.

treasurecruise’s 150 followers giveaway
Not only did they announce Eldritch Moon on Lunar New Year, I also had the great fortune of hitting 150 followers (well, 153) today.
I started this blog because I wanted to filter all my Magic stuff into one place so that one, I could find it and two, as much as my fandoms have shifted over the years, Magic has remained consistent amongst all of them. To see treasurecruise grow into its own place where I can put my cosplay, vorthos ramblings, izzet jank and other fun stuff has been delightful. So, here’s what you’ll get if you Reblog/Like this post!

A Playset of Standard Legal* Treasure Cruises! 2x Scars of Mirrodin Boosters 1x Code of the Orzhov Guildpact Event Deck (sealed, decklist here) 1x Foil Full Art Mountain (BFZ, #265) I’ll be drawing the winner on the 1st of March, GMT. * For about a couple of months more. Rules: 1. Follow @treasurecruise cause it’s a big milestone for me! I’m not going to check if you were following before or w/e. On that note, no giveaway blogs though. 2. You have to be okay with giving me your address and have your askbox/messaging open. The winner has 48 hours to respond from when I message them. 3. You must be at least 18 years old, If you’re a minor, you must have a guardian’s permission to give your address. 4. Reblogs count as one entry, likes count as another. Please don’t spam your followers, haha.
This giveaway isn’t affiliated with Tumblr or Wizards of the Coast. Good luck!

Personally, I always felt the Rules Advisor did have its use. There are plenty of people who want to get to know the rules better or want to get get confirmation they know the rules well enough. Often these people say “I want to become a judge”, but for most of them, passing the RA test is what gives them the confirmation they need, and they don’t feel the need to further pursue the path to becoming a judge (because they have no interest in actually being an active judge).
But, if they’re getting rid of it, I’m sure they’ll have their reasons for it.
I hear the rules advisor title is going away soon? That’s a little disappointing, but I guess the title never really did anything. It was just a source of pride for me, you know?
A little sense of accomplishment.

Where did you hear that? I can’t find anything that might indicate that.

Wrt leaks. I would argue that, for a significant portion of players, leaks are just as important to our experience of magic as previews. I look forward to the first spoiler more than the first preview because I have no idea when it will happen or what it will be. It's always exhilerating to see the "forbiddeb fruit." Fake leaks are even used in market campaigns for this reason.
Players will always seek out new information. The question is what leads to the better overall experience. Watching the public argue over how the new colorless mana symbol worked for a month was torturous.
#Magic the Gathering#Leaks#Mark Rosewater#I'm staring to get tired of people trying to defend mtg leaks...

Tibalt is, indeed, alive.
Mark, I seem to vividly remember Tibalt being dead, but the last Checking in with Planeswalkers article send to indicate he's alive. I'm confused. Can you shed some light?
I’m pretty sure Tibalt is still alive.

Topi’s Daily Card #533: Time Stop
End the turn. Three simple words, and a whole lot of reminder text. Basically the game just skips right to the cleanup step, where everything winds down until it’s the next turn. Time Stop is great in it’s versatility. Countering basically anything, triggers, spells, whatever you want. Stopping combat is a breeze, and just anything you want to say ‘no’ to, you can. Keep in mind part of ending the turn means it exiles itself in the process, but for the effect, that’s a pretty fair trade off. It looks great in foil, and I wish I had the Tenth Edition one in particular, but sitting at $65 it’s unlikely I’ll ever get it. The reason why that foil is so expensive? No reminder text, just three, simple and every powerful words. End. The. Turn.

That’s only two years late for the Geist, unfortunately.
I still want to try to get my hands on one of those 2013 Vengevines sometime.

We finally have a high quality image of the 2016 WMCQ promo, Abrupt Decay!
Let’s focus on happier things, like pretty art, rather than the Eldrazi invasion.
