you can’t talk a self harm addict out of it by saying they could get an infection or they’ll have those scars forever

you can’t talk a drug addict out of it by saying their lungs/brain/liver/etc will be permanently damaged

you can’t talk an anorexic or otherwise disordered person out of it by saying they could die or have permanent physical disabilities from it

because we already know this.

it’s not our fault that we’ve become dependent on things that hurt us because these things that hurt us are, or have been, the only things that seem to help. if you want to help, give us our autonomy, give us basic respect, offer alternative ways to cope and give us time to make that transition on our own terms. and in most cases, we will, but it has to be allowed to be our decision.

Book Recommendations!

Hey! I wanted to post some of my most recent reads and rate them. So here we go:

The Empyrean series - Rebecca Yarros (8/10)

3 instalments in the series so far

Well written characters with diversity and inclusivity

A lot of gore especially in the latest instalment, Onyx Storm

Highly recommend reading in order

Beware of the content warnings and search up a list before getting the books

The Sun and The Star - Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro (10/10)

Sequel stand alone to the Camp Half-Blood chronicles (you don't have to read all the series's to understand)

Very sweet book about discovering one's identity

Awesome queer representation

Very emotional

Greek Mythology tied into a modern story

The Book of Doors - Gareth Brown (9.5/10)

Very enticing read with a lot of fantasy and magic

Time travel

Overall enjoyed this it was very sentimental and very well written

Did not enjoy the way Cassie or other female characters were written at first

Many plottwists

Solitaire - Alice Oseman (9.5/10)

Awesome read

Contains very mature subjects

Felt very personal (made me cry)

Has great representation of not only LGBT+ but also mental health struggles

Very confusing at the beginning

Radio Silence - Alice Oseman (10/10)

Great Novel with well explored themes of self-discovery

Shows that you can be succesful without having to go to Uni

This story hit very close to home and nearly made me cry many times

Well written characters with depth

True comfort story
