If you were to ask ten British people who grew up watching Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends in the 1990's what their favourite Thomas home video release was as a child, then chances are that nine would say that it was the 1997 release Chases, Races & Runaways. That video featured 18 episodes from the first four series and was billed as "18 episodes of mischief and mishaps". Although I never owned that tape myself, I can understand why it's gained such a well-loved reputation. If you look at the episode selection on the video, then you can see that it comprises some of series 1-4's best episodes and unlike certain other bumper special videos, cough Biggest Party Video Ever cough, it puts all of the episodes in the correct order, showing the evolution of TTTE across it's first four series. Alas, great home media releases like this are unheard of these days.

Has anyone else noticed that the 11th Doctor and Mr Bean shared a similar style of dress? Maybe Mr Bean was in fact a Time Lord!

Yes, that sounds like the best case scenario, and the one that would be for the best. Quite frankly, I can't see someone like Reinette, who's led a very sheltered life and used to being pampered and waited on hand and foot, coping with the difficult life of travelling in the TARDIS and facing life or death situations daily. And that's to say nothing of how awkward things would've been between her and Rose!
Something I've been thinking about if Reinette had come aboard the TARDIS in The Girl in the Fireplace; would she have replaced Rose as the Doctor's love interest or would the Doctor try to have his cake and eat it by having both Rose and Reinette on the go at the same time? Quite frankly, I don't either option would reflect too greatly on the Doctor, as romancing two women at the same time is a disgusting, misogynist thing to do, but then so is ditching someone you've been close to for some time for someone fancier. I don't know; the more I think about the Doctor's characterisation in that episode, the more I think Steven Moffat needs an education on what is and isn't acceptable when it comes to writing relationships. GITF certainly raises a lot of alarm flags about Moffat's attitude towards women. Anyone else got any thoughts on how having both Rose and Reinette in the TARDIS would've worked out?
