Shadow Run is a very good book I read for school. It's sci-fi with a bit of romance. I'm also currently reading a book called Claws of the Cat, which is historical fiction that takes plave in 16th century Japan. It's a series too.

Poisonous Plants! #1

Belladonna

Belladonna, Italian for, "beautiful woman," is better know as deadly nightshade. In medieval times, women would use the oils from this plant to dilate their pupils, and therefore be seen as more desirable. Probably a good indicator as to where the name came from. However, this plant isn't exactly something to be trifled with.

When consumed, a mere two berries can kill a child. For an adult, it takes ten to twenty. That's not even the most dangerous part if the plant, either. A single leaf can kill a full grown adult.

Several symptoms of belladonna poisoning are dilated pupils, light sensitivity, and a dry mouth and throat. Should you accidentally eat belladonna, or otherwise suspect being poisoned by it, drink warm vinegar or a water and mustard solution. By doing so, some of the toxins may be counteracted. Of course, getting medical aid is also a good idea.

You’re my miracle cure, aren’t you?” They set the device down again and started over.

3) “You killed my friends.” The hero trailed their fingers up the villain’s tensed muscles. “You killed my family. “ They caressed the pulse beating frantically in the villain’s throat. “You’re all I have left, just like you always wanted…” Their grip tightened, nails biting in as the villain gasped for breath. “Do you really think I’m ever going to let you go?” 

4) The hero’s fingers flexed against the cuff, watching as the villain carefully injected the contents of the syringe into their vein.  “What is that?” They glanced warily over to their lover through the thick glass, stuck in an identical, mirrored set up. The villain’s minion injected a dose into their lover’s arm. Unease deepened, before vanishing entirely.  “Heaven,” the villain said. “I made it myself, just for you.”  The happiness kicked in a moment later, euphoria, bliss, every other synonym in the world for feeling good. Heaven. “When you want more,” the villain murmured. “And trust me, you will need more, just hit this button here by your other hand. It will put a volt through your beloved’s body. Just a little one.”  Somehow, they didn’t think it would stay so little after the first time.
