atieno stares at the owl with a bit of mischief in their eyes. seems like the entity means no good in a moment like this, and causing a little more stress to the owl is something they can't help but take pleasure in doing.

"...ah, ah. but you don't have to dear owl. your response has said a lot in itself. don't you know that body language is so much of communication. has always been across so many cultures, so many forms of existence dear owl."

there's a haunting tone to their voice, atieno tilts their head as they continue to keep staring, staring, staring at the owl - clearly meaning to get under the other's 'skin' so to speak.

"and what you are showing to me... is that you're not having too great of a time right now. hm. and to think you spend all this time unsettling other people. don't like when the tables are turned on you, no?"

[beam] sender has been looking for receiver for some time after receiver went missing.

[lost] sender and receiver, who had a fling or relationship years or decades ago, meet again unexpectedly.

[mask] sender is in a conversation with receiver. then another version of receiver walks into the room. sender needs to find and neutralize the imposter (who may or may not be a shapeshifter).

and to think, they are familiar and fluent with multiple tongues and yet this entity often finds words, language escaping them. unable to really express some of the things that feel really close to them.

it's no wonder that they find themself often on their own, tending to their duties, to their wanderings in relative quiet. at least it is easier to pass by as an amorphous figure.

passing by... perhaps that's all that they were meant to be for so many.

"It's been some time since you last posed the subject. I would suppose there is some way to bring it up."

Atieno thinks for a moment. The phrasing behind such matters are worth being considerate.

"Hm. That's the question, isn't it. I mean.. maybe have you considered how it might be good for him? Even if the things get done around the manor anyway... what other good could he see in someone else being around?"

It was just a suggestion after all, but he did feel out of place trying to make those kind of things. Victorin gave him so much, to try and ask for more felt just plain rude. But, he did get lonely when he left, when the manor was entirely empty aside from him- just sitting and waiting for the other to return.

Atieno listens to his statement before nodding a little bit. "Yeah, there's so many details about how someone lives, and the context in which someone lives that makes such a difference. "

When they notice the point about two people from the same circumstances turning out very different, Atieno gives a little bit of a hum.

"Oh yeah. I think there's a combination of the context and how people respond to that context that makes a huge difference in terms of how people turn out. You can have a reasonable expectation of people based on what you know - but because they may respond to circumstances differently, that's the variation that keeps people interesting."

❝I think circumstances are what truly make a person, how you're brought up, where you're raised, those kind of things. But, most of the time when they say things would've been different, I don't believe it. Unless your circumstances change drastically, you'll probably have been the same person in the end.❞

Product of one's environment was a saying for a reason. No doubt that's why he felt he would've lived the exact same. Things just wouldn't have changed all that much to make him come around to other things like that.

Atieno chuckles a little bit. "I guess there's something to be said about adjustment and adaptation over time." That keeps things interesting in many different situations, they have found over the years.

"Thanks. It's not.. a bad thing. It's just a lot of information about me that I don't really to share right now."

They had to see about other encounters before they wanted to go into the lore of who they really were. And even then, that's not even guaranteed.

"I do like traveling, I like exploring different places. I like writing, reading, crafting with metals and dense materials. I also enjoy dancing and listening to music quite a bit."

"Shockingly, you kind of get used to it after being there long enough." A small chuckle would emerge. She'd gotten so used to it in fact that visiting realms where floating islands weren't a thing almost felt odd to her. How silly!

"Oh. My apologizes then. There's no need to talk about it unless you want too." An understanding nod was given in response. Inka knew exactly how the other felt in that regard.

"Any hobbies?" Inka asked. Now it was her turn to change the subject to hopefully put it on a more enjoyable path.

Keeping to oneself, now that's a good strategy. Atieno can't help but nod a little bit, glad to keep their attention away from the absurdly loud duo not too far away.

"Right. I have never really... not really understood the appeal of being that loud in that area. I find it revealing in ways that I don't even know if they recognize. Or care."

Likely not if the arguments are getting to that point after all this time.

Sliske's mention of being divorced for trillions of years at this point, makes them glance at him.

"Some of their voices is still kind of rattling about, here's to that slowly drifting away sooner rather than later."

Atieno had been a little bit on the outskirts of town, lightly browsing through a book that they had from their travels. In the midst of this, they started to hum and lightly sing a song that they had managed to get in their head.

They had a somewhat low and resonant voice, something that allowed them to carry a melody in an almost haunting matter if they chose to do so.

Clearly, they were more focused on their own relaxation, not seeming to mind too much if they were overheard.

atieno finds themself up high on some long neglected area. they don't know if this place has been actively used in quite some time. and they don't seem to be too troubled by the thought.

instead, they are focusing on getting a good view of the surrounding area, of seeing those still doing some late afternoon, early evening errands. trying to prepare for the upcoming week.

they supposed they should be preparing - but their own sense of time has always been outside of the usual cycles of different locations. their rhythms being something they will tend to when they need to tend to.

so for now, they can observe for a bit and pick up on anything that might otherwise take their interest.

"Oh, that's really interesting. Yeah, I can imagine that makes for quite the adjustment in terms of getting around and understanding what you have been dealing with."

Still, there's something about such a change that does seem interesting to Atieno.

They grimaced a bit at the question about their home.

"Um. That's a complicated question. I don't.. I don't have a home that I can easily describe. It's uh.. there's a lot to the story that I don't really know that I want to go into. But let's say there was a lot of nothingness for a very long time to put it lightly."

"Well, it's certainly different I'll give it that. Most of the realm is comprised of floating islands! Never in my life had I ever seen anything like that before! It makes for an interesting experience since you either have to get around by dragon or portals."

A minor chuckle emerges. "No getting around on horses or in a wagon that's for sure." A part of her missed that (or was it missing being human?) but it was undeniable that her new modes of travel were much quicker.
