Okay, you know what? After reading this post, I jokingly said we should all just make a pact to reblog it five times a day forever. So I'm gonna do this louder for the people in the back:
AO3 WAS CREATED BY FANS, FOR FANS
AO3 IS RUN BY FANS (VOLUNTEERS, NO LESS)
AO3 IS PART OF THE NON-PROFIT, ORGANIZATION FOR TRANSFORMATIVE WORKS
AO3 IS NOT OWNED BY ANY COMPANIES AND DOES NOT EARN REVENUE
AO3 OPERATES ON DONATIONS FROM FANS
again:
AO3 WAS CREATED BY FANS, FOR FANS

To all the anons that kept sending hate to one of my favourite writers and they had to deactivate their blog
Fuck you.
You took someone’s hobby/creative outlet and ruined it for them. How fucked up do you have to be that you just cause a stranger on the internet so much misery that they no longer feel safe enough to share their creations on the internet.

There's over 9 million users on Tumblr now. Reblog if you're one of the few who's never EVER left anon hate in somebody's ask box.

I feel bad for writers when people hate on them when readers read something they don’t like because they didn’t read the content warnings. Like how many times do writers have to explicitly say YOU THE READER ARE 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR MEDIA CONSUMPTION. if you start reading something and it turns into something you don’t like content wise just simply stop reading it. Don’t hate on someone for writing something they wanted and you weren’t comfortable with the content. Most writers, if not all, clearly write out content warnings and tags before hand. It’s just on the reader to pay attention to them. I for one myself have accidentally missed a warning or two before I started reading and I get about halfway through then when I realize it’s something I don’t like I just close the tab and find something else to read. I didn’t go bash the writer for their writing and how I didn’t enjoy the topic. It may not be something I enjoy reading but I did enjoy their beautiful writing until the point I stopped. It doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy their writing in other works they do I just didn’t like the one specific topic. These people write and publish their art on the internet for FREE they don’t owe you anything. If anything us as readers owe them compliments, likes, kudos, reblogs, etc because it encourages these writers to keep going and continue posting.
Another thing too. Minors you need to listen to writers when they say if you are under this age please do not interact with my blog or writing. The writer doesn’t just say this because they don’t like minors THEY ARE SAYING IS OUT OF PROTECTION FOR BOTH YOU AND THEMSELVES. You may not be thinking about this when you are scrolling on this website but these are real life people behind these blogs. They are setting boundaries that let them pursue their hobbies safely and if minors are overstepping those boundaries people are going to stop writing and publishing on the internet because they no longer feel safe to do so.

Imagine you’re Jonathan Byers and you’ve been high for like eight months straight and now the first day you can’t smoke your mom has disappeared to Alaska with an unhinged conspiracy theorist whose house you once fucked in and your sister gets arrested for attempted homicide by roller skate and the FBI shows up and puts your house on lockdown and also Mike Wheeler is there.
