Doing research on hallucinogens for potential candidates for Fear Toxin when I was reminded that nutmeg has hallucinogenic effects in high doses.

So, I'm just imagining Jonathan Crane looking for new ways to synthesise a stronger and more refined toxin, discovering this fact about nutmeg, then thinking to himself, "Well, I can't just not make a Fear Toxin out of nutmeg for a Christmas crime spree."

Jonathan Crane is a master at science and it’s a shame the writers don’t actually research actual chemicals and see the possibilities of a REAL fear toxin. I see a lot of made up words and harden about a blue flower, but rare do I see a legit chemical name. (it doers happen though, once or twice()

I think his character could be bolstered if Fear Toxin could actually be a thing, and not just a fantastical science-y name that evokes fear. I want to see real science in comics, not just the made up. I want to see fear toxin made in a lab.

Come on DC, pls…

#okay i'm not like an actual scientist but i did do some research into the possibilities of a real life fear toxin #for my own curiosity #but to me fear toxin is made up of a hallucigen and epinephrine (adrenaline)#because anxiety/addrenaline interacts badly with hallucinogens leading to a “bad trip”#fear toxin is basically a weaponised bad drug trip combined with whatever psychological warfare jonathan is doing #i don't know what hallucinogen yet #maybe lsd because it has a history of being used by the cia for crazy and immoral psychological stuff #anyway that’s the end of my rant <3 #jonathan crane #dc scarecrow

I keep seeing lots of amazing artists redraw this panel with their Riddler designs, and I'm like "oh I have a Riddler design, I can join in". Turns out, that was a trick from my brain, it took weeks.

Okay I am not super well versed on the Scarecrow lore, but I am thinking about how likely the reason the crows would attack Jonathan when he was locked in the chapel by his great-grandmother was probably because they were nesting.

I don't have as much experience with crows, but I have a long history with their cousins, the Australian Magpie. They have a reputation for being rather aggressive to humans that get within a certain proximity of their nests, to the point that spring is colaquially known as swooping season due to regular magpie attacks. So, it's likely that the crows were attacking (and in fact living there in the first place) in order to protect their vulnerable, flightless chicks.

So, the idea that his great-grandmother utilised these animals' protective paternal instinct in order to traumatise him is uh... certainly something that is telling of her character.

Occasionally as an Australian you'll be talking to someone from overseas, and you'll discover a common phrase you took for granted is, in fact, not universally known outside of our country.

Turns out casually dropping "fuck me dead" into conversation will give unsuspecting Americans an aneurism.

The more you know.

Nothing makes me learn stupid and useless shit like fic writing.

Like yes, I learnt the main three ways that dentists name and identify teeth. Yes, I have beef with American dentists for deciding to come up with one of them instead of just using the one everyone else uses and then referring to it as the UNIVERSAL System when only Americans use it.

Does it have any impact on my life? God no!
