Pulling the one from the middle of the small pile, Eris took the half-hazardly hidden letter out to read, skimming while looking for any keywords relating to Koschei. What he found stopped him in his tracks. Midway through the letter he spotted his name scratched out in a handwriting so familiar to him. His eyes darted to the beginning of the sentence speaking of him. ‘I would shout it from the rooftops if you wished, telling the world that Eris Vanserra is my mate,’ it read.

Ignoring everything else in the letter he looked for who had sent such an outrageous claim. And Eris swore his heart stopped when he read the signature at the bottom of the page. Written in the messy chicken scratch at the bottom was Azriel’s name.\

Eris saw red.

Scooping up the rest of pile of letters out of the drawer and snapping it shut, he found himself winnowing to the Night Court.

He had an overgrown bat to kill.

In this chapter, Azriel wakes to find Eris dead in his arms. It follows his and his family's grief as they work through the funeral.

After it shattered my heart completely, I decided to ask permission to craft it into a full length fic. They graciously allowed me to run with this idea, and I outlined all four chapters and wrote the chapter 1 draft within 24 hours. These boys have my whole heart, and I hope you enjoy this full length interpretation of the original tumblr post.

In "All Things End" Eris struggles with losing his memory due to complications from traumatic brain injuries caused by Beron's abuse. He forgets parts of his life and steps down from the mantle of High Lord. Azriel and their children take care of him the best they can, until he eventually passes away. After losing his mate, Azriel tries to move forward, but eventually dies from a broken heart.

Chapter 1, "Inside Fading Out", focuses on the discovery of the injury and Eris's decline into memory loss.
