With so much going on in the world right now I felt it was time for these prints to make their way out of the darkness and into the spotlight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I want to help the LGBTQ+ community celebrate Pride this year since they can’t hold parades or marches, and this quote from Everybody’s Talking About Jamie felt very fitting in the current situation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There is so much uncertainty surrounding the pandemic; people are worried about their livelihoods, they’re separated from loved ones, they’re feeling trapped or anxious in their own homes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then there’s the protests that have sparked a global revolution. So many people are risking their safety to go out onto the streets, demanding justice and an end to racism. Not only are they possibly exposing themselves to the virus but they risk facing continued demonstrations of police brutality. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And during all of this, Pride simply sparkles with hope, indicating that we can affect change through raising our voices. It’s a demonstration of acceptance and love. It embraces those who are brave enough to say that they are different and it remembers those who were persecuted for those differences. Just hear me out - Pirates of the Caribbean: The Musical! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Lockdown has inspired so many strange and creative projects in all of us and this was just another crazy idea. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While it’s not strictly theatre related, it’s a bit of an insight into me as a person. I love Captain Jack Sparrow, I love stories that are full of high adventure and fantasy, I love dressing up, I love Disney, I love to read and draw and sing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love to be inspired by the things I love most. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Like many of you, for the last few months I’ve been social distancing and some days I wake up and feel a bit numb. I just go through the motions but I don’t take any enjoyment out of the things I’m doing. Ever since I watched @bandstandbwayI knew I wanted to create something inspired by its heart and its message ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Therefore it seemed fitting to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of VE Day by sharing my tribute to the troops. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope this message resonates with more than just soldiers and heroes and veterans however. In the current crisis, our homes have become our sanctuaries and we shouldn’t take them for granted. Remember when I saw #JamieTour and I met @theshanerichie and he called me sweetheart and I was so happy because he’s Alfie Moon! I love Alfie Moon! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And then to make my night even better I met @laytonwilliams and he laughed at me and we took photos and it was such a good stage door experience. Maybe even one of my best. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With the spread of coronavirus however, experiences like this will have to take a backseat for the next few months. A lot of performers who are still doing shows at this time are limiting their presence at stage door. Most are stopping it all together because our health has to remain the priority. Such a blunder sometimes it makes me wonder why he even brings the thunder [Why he even brings the thunder] ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Hi, I’m Megan and that’s Lisa and we’ll be auditioning for the roles of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Whenever I listen to Hamilton I end up laughing at Madison and Jefferson. They’re so petty in their triumph; backing each other, thinking they can outsmart Hamilton with their wit and their words when really, they don’t stand a chance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sometimes I think Lisa and I can be like that. It doesn’t matter if the odds are stacked against us; we will always have each other’s backs and occasionally, if we manage to do something pretty awesome, we’ll probably gloat about it together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And let’s face it, I nearly always have a cold so Madison is the perfect role right? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Back at school, Hamilton was our first real musical obsession. It was the show we knew we had to see together and we were lucky enough to fulfil that dream. Every day we would compare who had learned the most lyrics, which song we currently had stuck in our heads, who could rap Guns and Ships the fastest (Lisa) and who had cried over the least depressing song (Megan) I always cry over Yorktown? Apparently I just get really emotional when they win things. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We even accidentally indoctrinated some of our friends into the Cult of Hamilton because we played it so often during study sessions! I would normally take this opportunity to apologise for being so annoying but I’ll never be sorry for our love of theatre and the fact we’re kind of ridiculously amazing.
