I've got the Red Sox game on the radio and a quilt under the needle. What could be better? Well, I'll tell you, the Sox are up 5-0 in the third inning on Opening Day at Fenway. ⚾🪡🧵

"Ladies' Home Journal Meets Clip Art"
I spent the afternoon in Concord, Massachusetts at the "QUILTS 250: Stitching in the Spirit of Democracy" quilt show. The categories were: Spirit of 1775, Antique, Traditional, Contemporary, and Quilts of Protest.
There were over 200 quilts on display. A variety of techniques were used to create them which inspired me to try some different things on my next project. Even nonquilters were inspired by the imagination and skill of the artists.
If you have the opportunity to attend a quilt show, do! It's a fun opportunity to meet and support local artists and guilds along with the restaurants and shops in the area. You don't have to sew to appreciate a quilt.

International Quilting Day falling on the Ides of March...coincidence? I think not. Grab a WIP (work in progress) or a UFO (unfinished object) and get stabbing, my quilty friends!

My brother heard that I'm working like a fiend to finish the quilt I'm submitting for my quilt guild's spring quilt show. The submission deadline is Wednesday. He just showed up with a casserole dish full of homemade brisket, mashed potatoes, and broccoli! He even left the BBQ sauce for dipping. Not all heroes wear capes, some make brisket.

Love this fabric!
CUTTIN' FABRIC
I pulled out a bag of "heavy" fabrics, (including duck cloth, canvas, and upholstery fabric), and I'm cutting out bags.
A lot of this is (at least) second-hand, so there are some odd cuts. The goal is to get some sort of *useful* bag from each piece. Wishful thinking and sleight-of-hand may be involved.
There are two different coordinating monkey prints, including this one with dapper little guys. NICE!

A friend got me hooked on a basketweave pattern last year and I finally found the perfect fabric! It's the Pride & Prejudice collection from Riley Blake's Jane Austen at Home line.
After all, it is a truth universally acknowledeged that a quilter in possession of a good pattern must be in want of fabric.

Last year I joined a quilt guild. One of the best perks, aside from it sounding perfectly medieval, is having dozens of talented people to consult with when making quilty decisions. This happens at our bimonthly meetings but even more so on days like today when we have a day camp at our meeting hall. It's also a chance for my sewing machine to get out of the house. Today there was chocolate, homemade fruitcake, and a whole lot of laughing. Gotta love the Guild.

The great thing about quilters is that when things go to pieces we know how to stitch them into something beautiful. 🧵🪡
Happy National Quilting Day!
