♥️Lambert/Aiden Fic Reclist!♥️

For anybody and everybody interested in Lambert, Aiden, and/or their relationship! I've been obsessed with these two since the start of the pandemic, and they inspired me to start writing my own fic, so making a reclist has always been an idea in the back of my head. Plus, it's come to my attention that the tag can get crowded sometimes, so, Laiden fans, this one's for you.

Parameters: I've decided to divide my recs based on common story types that explore Laiden both in and out of canon. Other ships are allowed, but the focus is Lambert/Aiden. Additionally, I put a cap on 3 fics max per author. These are not arranged in any particular order beyond the categories.

♥️Lambert's Revenge/Aiden's Death or Return♥️

Karadin sells Aiden to a mage, and he becomes an experiment, trapped in his own head while searching for a way out. It's a series, and this is the part where shit gets ugly.

The fics chosen for this reclist are only ones I have read. It is by no means comprehensive, and definitely favors older fics, since that was when I was deepest in the fandom.

Butch Edith Payne.

Butch Edith Payne in the sense that she was always a little too interested in intellectual pursuits, always found a little too much joy in outsmarting people.

Butch Edith Payne in the sense that she had never cared for makeup, but found it fascinating that the suffragettes were so bold with theirs. Butch Edith Payne who always did seem a little too interested in the suffragettes, didn't she...

Butch Edith Payne in the sense that she loved fencing back in school, even if the dresses restricted movement and her braids kept falling into her face. Butch Edith who hiked her skirt up from the ankles to the mid-calf for better movement when no one was looking. Butch Edith who is still a prodigy with a sabre, if a bit rusty now.

Butch Edith Payne who read a million fairytales when she was younger. And sometimes she would close her eyes, pretending to be one of the characters in her stories. She would first imagine herself as the princess in need of rescuing, then recoil, and secretly, back when she was young enough that it didn't have to mean anything, she would picture herself as the daring knight winning the heart of the fair maiden, and finally, finally that would feel right.

Butch Edith Payne in the sense that she dressed more masculine after her death. Not in a way noticeable to people from this century, but so anyone from her time would clock it in an instant. A ghost from her time would clock the way she chose felt bowlers over wide brims and men's gloves and shoes instead of women's. A ghost from the Edwardian era would clock that she wore a sport's skirt hemmed at mid-calf instead of the ankle, with men's bloomers to fill the gap from her skirt to her shoes.

Butch Edith Payne in the sense that she keeps her hair short most of the time. That she pins it up in wings and bobs for practicality's sake and just so happens to love the freeing feel of it, the lack of weight on her head.

Butch Edith Payne in the sense that she deepens her voice as she speaks, because she likes the sound of it, and the sense of authority it gives her, the feel of power that had only been open to upper-class men in her time.

Butch Edith Payne in the sense that she carries herself with the gait of all those actors she saw on the silver screen- all of their assertiveness and power with none of the callousness that always seemed to accompany it. Butch Edith Payne who could be aloof and rather cold at times, but still cared about the people she helped. Butch Edith Payne who decided she could do gentleman's chivalry better than they could and then decided to prove it.

Butch Edith Payne in the sense that she wants to be chivalrous. She doesn't go out of her way to be overly polite- that's Charlie's job- but she'll hold the door open for you if you need it and sigh before moving out of her seat to help you with your bags. She'll offer her suit jacket if to a young woman if she needs it- she's got fifteen back-up layers for a reason. She may wield a sabre on occasion but she wields it in defense of those in need, never against them.

Butch Edith Payne in the sense that she's got a figure a bit more athletic than girls from her time period- she's by no means muscular but she's sturdy, well-built from all of her paranormal adventures. Butch Edith Payne who prefers not to but will get her hands dirty if the case demands it.
