Very informative.
Keep in mind this is also his take and his opinion on these ligatures. This can be used as a reference whether what he looks for in a ligature matches with what you look for in a ligature or not.

You can clean reeds???? You’re supposed to do that what???? I’ve almost finished my first semester as a sax major and I’ve been told this zero times what???? I’ve always just thrown them out once they start getting a little nasty. Are you telling me I could’ve just cleaned my reeds and still had super good ones that I love?????
i dunno if it’s like commonly accepted since there’s so much bs mythology surrounding reeds all I know is that if my reeds start smelling or one starts to look like it’ll grow mold soon i soak them in original formula listerine (it has no flavorings or anything)

I also wash my mouthpiece once every week or if i’m sick every time i play. it’s also a good habit to brush your teeth or use unflavored mouthwash or rinse your mouth out with water a few times before playing because your reeds don’t age as quickly (i think) and your mouthpiece stays cleaner and it even can prevent the pads of your instrument from wearing out because if you have sugar or residue in your mouth it’ll make its way into your instrument and thus onto your pads
look up episode 58 of the Clarineat podcast, he interviews a guy who invented an antiseptic reed case called reedjuvinate

just finished an overhaul on this vintage 1961 Selmer full Boehm system clarinet played by my stand partner in community band. it was hard to get a good picture, but the wood this thing is made of is off the charts amazing. sooooooooo much better than the garbage they put silver keys on and call an R13 nowadays
