Cooking Hacks, Simple and Cheap
Everybody knows that eating in college is never a gourmet experience. You're most likely on a tight budget and living in a dorm, with limited access to a full kitchen and supplies. Who wants to spend a ton on food when theres so many fun things you could be spending your money on elsewhere? Here you will learn how to eat like a king for the cheapest amount.
Lets just say the words we were all thinking: ramen noodles. The cheapest, most convenient thing to eat in a college dorm room. But after your tenth day in a row of eating those precious dollar a pack noodles, they can get old. Not to worry- there are endless ways to spice up those bad boys so you never have to feel like you're eating the same meal again.
Simple add ins-
The first thing you want to do to add to your ramen experience is bulk up on your spice cabinet. Investing in a few condiments can go a long way. Mix and match, or come up with your own concoction of spices can make your ramen go from bland and boring to tasty and interesting. Some ideas include: adobo, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, chili powder, a variety of curry paste, vinegar, and citric juices.
Going a step further-
If these add ins don't seem to be enough, there are other cheap veggies and meats that you can add in to your ramen to change it up. Baby spinach, lettuce, scallions, peas, cauliflower, corn are just a few examples of veggies you can add in. Chicken, steak or even hot dogs for those on the tightest of budgets are an easy and cheap addition as well. Be it fresh or frozen, these simple add ins can make the meal fuller for hard working college students.
