THE POEMS LIVE

poems are living and breathing

they are evergrowing

and ever eating

making more out of themselves

just a stream

running through the woods

like a fawn who’s lost its mother

it’s eye catches on some minty green vegetation

at the base of a tree

and distracts it for long enough

to have it switch course

from panic to hunger

and in turn

drives itself away from safety

tastebuds blooming with sadness

[ ALLEN GINSBERG ] In 1989, a book containing advice for young writers called, "On Being a Writer" was published. Among the 31 writers interviewed for the book was Allen Ginsberg. The quote was part of his advice for aspiring writers. It had originally appeared in Writers Digest where he also said: "You say what you want to say when you don't care who's listening.
