My problem with Ao3 is that I just wanted a Wolfstar oneshot smut fic to put me to sleep,

but now here I am, at 3 am, sleepless, and 15 chapters in a Dramione post-war slowburn fanfic in which their first date mainly consists of going to France undercover as muggle newlyweds, name-calling each other Hormone and Crotch, illegally robbing the Magdalene's (talking) skull from a monastery of angry nuns, and having lunch in the desert between two shipwrecks (in this exact order).

This only it feels like months rather than years and occasionally weeks. Like, what fever dream brought this on?

Is anyone else feeling a shorter term version of this with their WIP?

That moment when you find a story you wrote five years ago and it is somehow the best and worst thing you've ever written? The dialogue? I'm so embarrassed. The plot twists? I'm on the edge of my seat.

I READ THIS BOOK AND IT IS FANTASTIC. Felton’s tone deeply affected my writing of Draco Malfoy’s inner thoughts from then on in.

Seriously. Go to a library and get it and read it it is SO WORTH IT. It’s funny as heck.

Oooh, see, I don’t see my particular Draco Malfoy wearing a SHIRT that says this but I totally want to write something where he says this.

Honestly, maybe one of the moments when he has an alibi and can say he was just acting when he says something cute like this.

To anyone reading this post with my commentary on it, which will probably be my AO3 writing core: if you were reading a fake-marriage scene where this line was the final beat in an argument where someone was insulting “his wife”, what are some other phrases you’ve heard said - in fiction or real life - that might be similarly swoon worthy or dramatic? Any ideas? :)

Everyone talks about old fanfiction sites but I don't think people realize how amazing yet unhinged Quizilla was before it went defunct. Like you could literally put music on your fics y'all. I remember reading a Naruto fic with a midi version of Linkin Park's "In The End", a Kingdom Heart's fic with Ghost in the Shell's "Inner Universe", and a Boondocks fanfic with Usher's "Lovers and Friends". Like it was amazing. There were fic quizzes!! The answers were sometimes whole conversations from the author and their friend. More character roleplay and reactions. UNHINGED I TELL YOU. No fanfic site will ever compare. It was a whole other breed of its own and I miss that shit for real. Like I would love to see the teens being unhinged like we were on that site in 2005, genuinely.
