ok people seemed to like my asra and faust hcs, so how about julian and malak???

more than once, malak has woken julian up from an impromptu nap just in time for a meeting by pecking incessantly at his window. julian doesn’t know how malak knew where he lives and at this point he’s too afraid to ask

one time when julian was drunk, malak brought him a silver screw he found on the ground, and julian started crying from happiness. now malak brings him all kinds of shiny things and julian has a little drawer with everything from him

as julian becomes more in-tune with his magic, he’s able to understand malak, like asra can understand faust. the thing is, he thinks all magicians can understand every animal. so one time he’s in the middle of some experiment and malak is whining to be fed. julian can’t understand why the apprentice isn’t doing it and he asks them as much.

julian: why aren’t you feeding malak he’s been crying for it for ten minutes and he’s SO LOUD.

mc: oh is that what he wants? i’ll feed him

julian: wait you don’t understand him

mc: of course not, i couldn’t understand someone else’s familiar

julian: someone else’s WHAT

when julian and mc take off on their journey he teaches malak to sit on his shoulder and say “arrrrrr” to increase his pirate cred

the effect is slightly ruined because malak keeps trying to groom julian who secretly doesn’t mind

Was it too late to be knocking on his sister’s door? Perhaps. Was it somewhat dangerous to slide inside the palace walls to do so? Certainly. Yet he knew no one else that might offer his heart the comfort that being beside his lovely sister might. Sure, his head might suffer a blow from her hand, but he was sure she’d be just as glad to see him as he would be her. 

And there seemed to at least be a candle still lit inside. 

“Pasha, it’s me... Are you still awake?”

Did she know how beautiful she looked like this? Bathed in moonlight and laughing as though there was nothing to care for in the world? Julian thought perhaps she might, the impish magician, and she used it to her advantage as once another magician had on him. Or perhaps not, and she was an innocent, made to light the paths of those in darkness and pain, so they might give life another shot. 

Either way, he smiled and walked closer.

“Look what the currents brought in, my dear.”
