The last attack I made for Artfight. This one was on Selkari's character, Abyss.

Trying to learn backgrounds, I can sorta line bark but outside of that I don't really know what I'm doing.

3rd Artfight attack! This time it's against Lunaris1's character Aichmi! Ticking the polish button—which I do when something about a piece really whoops my ass while drawing it—after forgetting the shade the back left paw's nails—fixed here but permanently visible on the version up on Artfight—is going to haunt me for the next five years.

An Art Fight attack against a friend. I finished this during art fight this time, yippee! I've been dipping my toes into drawing actual backgrounds, I'm happy enough with this one but I feel like I should get a better grasp on ambient lighting.

Artfight attack for DewTheSeawing. Yay I've officially beaten my Artfight attack highscore—which was zero! I kept flip flopping back and fourth about how closely I wanted to follow the official Wings of Fire artstyle and I am still unsure if this lass is supposed to be a pure Seawing or a Night/Sea hybrid but was too nervous to ask. So the end result is... definitely is a dragon!

Most fun I've had drawing in a while, I thought the character was very cute.

A piece I drew for a friend of their Grave Cleric Aasimar, Newton. This picture whooped my ass for the better part of a year. I did pick up some new techniques from it though so that's a win I guess; made two new, beloved brushes and picked up a new lineart trick.

A piece I made for a friend. I have a love-hate relationship with how I've depicted subsurface scattering through the fur here. Probably would've turned out better if I wasn't attempting fur subsurf scattering for the first time--while also trying to figure out how to make fur literally glow for the first time--at the same time. But, friend liked it so I can't really complain.

I drew a picture of my character, Trypno, to use as a profile picture last October. I was, and still am, slowly improving at rendering fur and hair.

Fiery...er Flareon

I feel like Flareon tends to be least favorite of the eeveelutions and I think that it might have to do with it looking too similar to Eevee, just fluffier and more orange. So I wondered if changing the colors would make it more endearing to people--not that I think the design is wrong, just as a fun experiment. I also messed with the original sprite

to see how/if the colors would've worked back in Gen I. Unfortunately, I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to pixel art.

A drawing i made of my DnD player character, Deino Silvertongue--a totally normal silver dragonborn. I've got some issues with how I've drawn this, mostly the perspective on one of the legs and how I've drawn the face. But design wise, I still enjoy the idea of giving metallic dragons and dragonborn accent colors from what their metal looks like when it tarnishes, I've given Deino some rust freckles here.

Drew this a year ago to celebrate the first iteration of Michael Mouse going public domain, which makes it fitting that I forgot my signature. Figuring out chromatic aberration was fun.

Shout out to that time I basically made a gjinka of Demon Core Kun for a friend's ttrpg campaign. I like the technical skill that went into it for the time--it was made about a year ago--but the basis for the design was a bit fucked up. And I'm not sorry about the Demon Core part, that's still funny. I will not be explaining why he has no skin, however.

A piece I had done of a Kite, a species of dragon in one of my worldbuilding projects. It's an alien planet, which is why the white 'birds' have four wings and each of the dragon's limbs have six digits. Their colors are inspired by palette #57 of PippinTheLesser's color palette challenge.

A wyvern-centaur person I've since named Zinnia. Although i tend to prefer four legged dragons, I feel like using one of them in the context of a centaur-type critter makes the design very front-heavy in a way I didn't like. So I nixed the forelegs.

Pikachu is one of my go-to subjects for experimenting, warming up, or doodling. I guess it's because it's something I can draw from memory and rotate in my head 360° on every axis. I had drawn this a while ago as part of PippinTheLesser's color palette challenge, palette #52. The style was inspired by the webcomic Down The Rabbit Hole.

Drowned.

Stripped of rank, wings rent from the body, and bound to the forlorn depths of the Great Thalassic. He shall never again feel the sky's winds or day's light.

This was a piece I made for Smaugust in 2023 for the prompt "Drowned." I'm starting to notice that, without that context, there isn't too much communicating this is in the deep sea aside from the bubbles, huh. I used way too many layer effects on this one, especially the unnecessary depth of field on the sigil, but I did learn to render gold in a way I like. I wish I made the dragon's design more ornate, I still struggle with giving my designs the ol' razzle dazzle but I still think the picture's neat.
