A first sketch of the world my current campaign is taking place in, with the main countries placed on the map already.

Have I ever shown you guys these weird late 80s Soviet Lord Of The Rings illustrations?

They were made by Sergei Iukhimov, who’s virtually unknown otherwise.

If you're going to be a player in a campaign or even in a one shot, don't zag hard on your DM. Not cool, bro.

I am actually mad that so few D&D books have been translated into French.
Neither Volo’s nor Mordekai’s have been translated, nor has Eberron.
For someone like me who likes having the real books before implementing something in my game, it’s very frustrating.

Exactly my reaction.
I don’t really give a shit about what is presented as lore in the books. I didn’t care before and I still don’t care. Everybody can do as they want at their game, as long as everybody at that table is cool with it.
In the world I’m running, elves are isolationists who bled themselves dry through centuries of civil war, dragons are incarnations of the wrath of dieties and orcs are nomadic barbarians with a thirst for power. Nobody is going to come into my game and tell me to do it otherwise.

"hobby gentrificAtion is good, akshually!"
Gnolls aren't horrible demon-spawned monsters, they're just misunderstood!
lore? What's LORE?
Guarantee you that this is a direct result of the "Orcs are black people" bullshit, and people ask why anyone cared about it or the people creating the controversy- this is why. It's not enough for these people to play the game the way they want, they want EVERYONE to have to play it that way. This is how hobbies get gutted and eroded into cheap political vehicles.
