More people who make swap aus need to understand this. If something absolutely needs to happen and if personalities need to change for the swap to work it should only be by a bit (such as the charater needing to be more controlling fit that into how they act) that it still feels like that character and in a way that they would do it.

I love swap aus when they’re done well but I wish more people would write them in a way that. Y’know. Actually feels like an au. And not just a canon rewrite with slightly different words

Roleswaps where different characters are put into different situations and actually react differently than the characters of the roles they were placed into. Am I making sense here

Any time I look up a “X swap” au tag in ao3 I’m just automatically resigning myself to half the fics either being A. characters with the same personalities and wants as the ones they replaced in the swap and nothing changes or B. they still have their own personalities but somehow everything gets shoehorned into happening the same way anyway and like. why. ik it’s probably easier to fall into a canon rewrite but 🥲

I realized something about how Rollo Flamme (Twst) and Six (LN) are surprisingly similar

Firsts of all Rollo would love the The Little Nightmares games all the way especially the first game. He is a Six stan. However I find that they have so much in common like someone she cares about dies right in front of her that she failed to help (raincoat girl) and he has someone he cares about die right in front of him who he could not help (his brother). Even if you try to do something you view as good you end up harming people even though you don't mean to/ causing harm unintentionally. Doing things that could be seen as betrayal or is betrayal. Both have beef with some kind of adults (Thin man, The lady and other adults in the series. Mages.) Six is viewed as evil and bad for just trying to survive while Rollo would think that some of the NRC students view him in an antagonistic light for doing what he thought would be good for everyone that would help kept them alive since trauma. They both have so kind of trauma that fucked them up. SURVIVORS GUILT. They're both not afraid to fight someone who would be stronger than them when given a chance. Both are horribly mischaraterized by most of the fandom. There is an item they both care about a lot, six with her music box and Rollo with the Bell of Solace. Six and Rollo are both not very good with their emotions. TRAUMATIZED CHILDREN WOOOOOOOOO. Rollo and Six are both viewed as like monsters by a lot of the fandom.

Thats all I noticed right now tell me if you noticed any more similarities that I missed.

I like to imagine that in an au where Meleanor lives and Lilia somehow still gets custody of Silver, like Malleus she is also initially disgusted by Silver before growing extremely attached to him because the "you love me, so you'll love my child" thing goes both ways.

A few hcs that I had while I brainrotted about this in Discord dms:

-Meleanor, like her son, is very fascinated by Silver's fast development.

-She is an easily impressed aunt/godmother and would heap SO MUCH praise on Silver for the littlest things. (and immediately turn around and strike Lilia with lightning for interrupting her)

-Lilia, on the phone(?): "Silver just said his first words!"

Meleanor, appearing in a burst of fire: "HOLY SHIT!!!"

-Sort of reflecting fae in folklore, she loves to kidnap take Silver back to the castle with her for "play dates" with Malleus, who will complain about it as he so very gently plays with the fragile infant his mother had trusted him with (he is a tsundere big brother)

-Revan always sighs every time he catches Silver in the castle because he KNOWS his wife didn't tell Lilia she took him, but he isn't unhappy to see him. Will include Silver in Malleus's tutoring sessions even though Malleus's curriculum is much too advanced for the average human, let alone a baby.

-Growing up, Silver calls Meleanor "Mother" because he hears Malleus call her that all the time. When he grows out of it and starts calling her "Lady Meleanor/Meleanor-sama", she sulks about it a bit.
