We spent a few hours on site at the Honolulu Museum of Art today, adding more branches to the “Recover” forest wall hanging and doing a few repairs to chair leg sleeves. Seven years ago we were covering the facade of Cades Pavilion with panels of knit and crochet fabric made by a community of volunteers. Next week, we begin installing a new yarnbomb, “ReCover”, for the Honolulu Museum of Art “Joyful Return.” “ReCover” repurposes panels from this 2014 installation, along with donated yarns and contributions of knit, crochet, and fabric leaves. Looking back at the July 2014 yarnbomb of the Cades Pavilion at Spalding House (at the time, a part of the Honolulu Museum of Art). Panels of knit and crochet fabric made by a community of volunteers are now being repurposed to create a new yarnbomb at the Honolulu Museum of Art’s Palm Courtyard. Installation begins next week and will continue to grow over the summer - we are continuing to collect knit, crochet, and fabric leaves to add to a yarn forest of ʻōhiʻa lehua.
