TKFF x CL ART PARTY 2016: SKY, WIND, STAR and CINEMA

Join Toronto Korean Film Festival 토론토 한국영화제 and Creators' Lounge for year two of a celebration of art, music and film under the stars!

Browse an amazing selection of artwork by local and emerging artists. Kick back with some beer and bop along to live performances, presented to you by local musicians. Or just literally happen to stroll by as we’ll be seconds away from Bloor St. West, towards the heart of K-Town between Bathurst and Christie. ENTRANCE FEE: $5

Proceeds from artwork will go to featured artists. Event proceeds will fund the programming and launch of TKFF’s 5th annual film festival from June 17 to June 24, 2016.

+ - + - ABOUT "SKY, WIND, STAR and CINEMA" - + - +

The event title and theme takes from the original "Sky, Wind, Star, and Poem 하늘과 바람과 별과 시", the title of a collection of poems by a young Korean poet Dong-ju Yoon, who lived under Japanese colonial rule in the 1920s/1930s. As Korean literature and arts were heavily suppressed in this 'era of darkness', Yoon’s works acted as forms of resistance and continue to be celebrated and cherished today.

Yoon is the protagonist of TKFF 2016’s Closing Night film on June 24 (7:00PM @ Innis Town Hall), “DONG-JU: THE PORTRAIT OF A POET 동주” by Joon-ik Lee, starring Ha-neul Kang and Jung-min Park.

The House of Acoustics is a Toronto-based collaborative project that creates a new form of multimedia presentation from visual arts and music. Each project is built together from visual art and music, and it delivers a story using it’s own unique presentation. In order to do this, The House of Acoustics promotes true collaboration, as compared to other work that has the visual artist finish their work first, and the musician work within the confines of that. Both the visual artists and the songwriter start on the same square in developing the story. Each party brings in elements that complements each other, ultimately weaving the story together.

We are celebrating our work by holding an exhibition at The White House Studio (277.5 Augusta Ave.). Come and check out the latest work of our featuring artists; Liu Liu, Nanalogue, Albert Fung, Lorena Torres Loaiza and jae10!

The House of Acoustics feat. Albert Fung

The animation is inspired by the interaction between a certain type of bacteria (Neisseria), and the complement proteins within the human blood stream, also known as the classical complement cascade.As the bacteria is recognized by the human immune system, different sets of complement proteins are activated and attach themselves to the surface of the bacteria. By sending signals to each other, they will cooperate to form different structures on the bacteria surface, ultimately creating a membrane-attack-complex (MAC), which is basically punctures a hole in the bacterial wall.Upon forming the MAC, fluids would rush into the bacteria, causing it to burst and die.
