THIS TUES JUNE 14 @ 7:30 - YORKTOWN TOWN HALL - Yorktown Heights, NY
The historic Melbourne Farmhouse, built in 1812 upon a colonial era land grant, has been put on the Yorktown Town Board agenda and will be discussed by the board at that time. Supporters should show up at this meeting to put pressure on the town board to hold a public hearing about ways to save this building. While this is a board work session where the public does not have a chance to formally speak, I am told on good authority that supporters could put pressure on the board to hold a formal hearing. So be there and tell others to be there. This could be the way to make the difference in saving this farmhouse.

SUMMER EVENT ON THE HOYT HOUSE LAWN!! Sunday June 26 from 2:00 until 4:30PM - Live classical music, food, drink and more!
Please join Calvert Vaux Preservation Alliance on Sunday afternoon June 26, 2011 from 2:00 until 4:30 PM under a tent on the front lawn of the Hoyt House (“The Point”) in lush Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park in Staatsburg, NY for a celebration of Calvert Vaux’s Gothic Revival creation in the woods. We will also be celebrating the federal Save America’s Treasures grant awarded to New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for restorations on the house. This significant matching grant will launch a comprehensive restoration and adaptive reuse of the entire Hoyt House complex, beginning with the main house. The afternoon’s festivities are presented by Calvert Vaux Preservation Alliance, friends’ group of the Hoyt House (“The Point”).
A trio from the neoLIT (www.neolitmusic.com) chamber ensemble will provide the afternoon’s music. neoLIT has performed at distinguished venues such as Carnegie Hall and was ensemble-in-residency at last year’s Banff Music Festival in Canada. The afternoon will also be filled with food, drink and good company as well as a presentation by Alan Strauber, President of Calvert Vaux Preservation Alliance, of CVPA’s new adaptive reuse plan for the Hoyt House complex. Stephanie Bratnick, Artistic Director of Terra Firma Theater Company (www.terrafirmatheatre.org), will be on hand to discuss her troupe’s role in those plans. And,there may even be some unexpected surprises.
So hike in, drive in, boat in, but please join us for a delightful summer’s afternoon on the lawn of the Hoyt House (“The Point”) on the Hudson, centrally located in the wooded splendor of Margaret Lewis Norrie State Park in Staatsburg, NY. Admission is free - donations are encouraged. Dogs on leashes are always welcome. Visit us on Facebook, Tumblr or on our website at www.calvertvaux.org - e-mail [email protected] for further information. We’ll see you then……..
