Listen……. Eragon gets so much shit for being as empathetic as he is.
Think about it. The boy is getting constantly beaten over the head that he should toughen up.
Doesn’t kill the Urgals that attack him and Brom — Brom practically skins him.
Promises Roran he will help rescue Katrina, then gets himself into trouble to avoid killing Sloan — Arya and Islanzadi are both pissed.
Exhausts himself healing Baby Hope — Nasuada despairs about it to Roran
Is sick and tired of killing and keeps having nightmares about it — Eragon berates himself for caring so much.
It’s not super on the nose, but it is persistent. It keeps coming up all throughout the cycle. I think it’s Nasuada who remarks Eragon is, at his core, not a cruel or violent person, while Roran is made of harder stuff.
And in the end, it’s because he cares so bad about others that he’s able to defeat Galbatorix. Eragon’s supposed flaw is really his biggest strength.

The fight scene between Eragon and Murtagh during the battle of the burning plains is something that can be so personal

I'm still processing how fucking funny it was to watch the Crows run around during the events of Shadow and Bone. Like on the one hand they accomplished pretty much NOTHING they set out to accomplish and every single one of their plans went horribly awry, but on the other hand??? They snuck into the little palace? Inej killed TWO Inferni? They carjacked the Darkling? Jesper went up against a heartrender who had on a bullet-proof kefta with a gun and won? The Darkling tried to use the cut on Kaz and he got out of it with what was basically a magic trick? They snuck onto the skiff? Inej STABBED the Darkling? Kaz fought off a fricking Volcra with his CANE? Accomplishing nothing but with STUNNING proficiency. And at the end Alina's just like "gotta appreciate the effort, fam. Have these priceless jewels and go back to being crime lords in Ketterdam, please."

the original crows trio is amazing because jesper is so excitable and bubbly and inej has more heart than all of ketterdam put together and yet both of them have chosen as their favourite person a mean little guy with the temperament of a wet cat

I think it’s turning out so good so far!?? I’ve never worked on anything so big before and I’m low key like super intimidated. 😂😂

My copy of Eragon is a million years old and doesn't have a dust cover anymore so I continued with my streak of ruining my books
