any braime endgame theory where they end up married as lord and lady of tarth/casterly rock kindddaaaa misses the mark for me like i get it its very nice but i think part of whats fun about them is how they play with and constantly switch traditional societal roles. he's a man, she's a man, she's a maiden, he's a maiden, she's beauty and he's beast or she's beast and he's beauty. she brings him back to kings landing, and she brings him to stoneheart. he saves her from the bloody mummers but has her arrested in the red keep. and this kaleidoscope of perspectives allows each of them to see each other more holistically as people than as a specific role (which is why using each others first names rather than titles is significant) but for them to become lord and lady, husband and wife, diminishes the power of not only their genderfuckyness but also what made their relationship such a standout part of the books

if there's one unwavering thread in jaime's interactions with brienne it's that he trusts her. he trusts her even before he has any conscious thought about it. he knows she's honorable. he knows he can trust her with shit he has never told anyone. even though she wants to kill him, he knows she's safe. so then grrm is like lol what if she lies to him

Who is your favorite asoiaf character and why?

That’s a very good question. So when I started reading the books (I was around 14 or something) my favourite was definitely Arya. I still like her character but more than a decade later when I have reread the books I changed my mind about some characters.

Now my favourite is certainly Jaime. His story arc honestly is so emotional and such a rollercoaster. I love his growth and the fact that he is so flawed but he has so much love in him. The gotcha moment when you realise the shallow Prince Charming presence he has was just a prejudice on your reader self is wild. Love it.

His character was definitely assassinated in the later seasons of the show though so that sucks. Hope George does him justice later in the story too.

Do you ever think about how people judged and were cruel to Brienne her whole life and the most the people most important to Brienne (Renly, Catelyn, etc) did for her was let her pledge her service to them. And then Jaime comes along and looses a hand while trying to protect her and then jumps in a bear pit for her and then gives her a gift so priceless that the richest house in the country could not afford one, so priceless that I cannot even think of a modern comparison.
