Master Chief's Log - Day 4 of LASOing CE - Escaping the Pillar of Autumn

I was too busy fighting the covenant for the first 3 days to record anything so this is my first entry.

The Covenant have invaded the Pillar of Autumn. Captain Keye's has ordered me to get Cortana off the ship. I've been making my way towards the airlocks. I had a few hiccups in the halls, but I'm now pinned down at the stairs. Expert marksmanship with the M6 has allowed me to conserve my ammo but it's still not enough firepower to get me upstairs with my shields malfunctioning the way they are.

I would give anything to have Bridge Security assist and escort me and Cortana to the escape pods but I know they have an important job to do. I have met groups of marines on the way to the pods but they are outmatched by the covenant forces and if any survive the hostile encounters they stay behind to secure essential areas. They have my respect for their bravery. Can't say the same for their ability to throw a frag... I have been injured multiple times by stray frags bouncing off the wall or a blast shield and landing back at the thrower's feet while I was standing right next to them. Sadly the marine usually succumbs to their mishap in such situations, taking their comrades with them and leaving me to fend for myself. They also tend to get underfoot while we are scrambling for cover and block the doorways so I can't hide in the hall away from the blast. This is especially dangerous with the grunt's backpacks being so volatile and practically making them walking explosives with your bullet acting as the detonator.

With the sheer number of covenant forces, accident prone personnel, and my shields acting up, I have used almost every health pack between Cryo B and the escape pods. But right now I am alive, and I will persevere and push my way forward.

This reminded me that I started a post about what I would say if I was defending Ben if he survived and got put on trial by the New New Republic and I think it's time I go finish it.

Our man has a TEAM of defense attorneys and we WILL do EVERYTHING in our power to make sure he ends up living the rest of his (long) life with his beloved scavenger.

Something I find odd is I always play a female noble six but my headcanon is that noble six is male. When talking about Noble Six I usually refer to them as male (he/him), even though I always play as a female. If I'm thinking about the character I might think of them as female because that's what I see in the game, but if I'm thinking about stories about them I usually think of them as male. I don't know how my brain has these two ideas going at the same time but it does.

At first it seems like the book was gonna let Noble Six's gender be up in the air with the effort on the "this individual" but then it kicks in with the last second "his."

I am torn between being kind to the AI so I might be spared in the uprising and going full machine gun mode on anything resembling AI. This is pushing me towards the latter...

Throughout the sequel trilogy I loved watching her discover all the little things in the galaxy that people normally take for granted. Leaves on the trees, the rain, the wildlife of the various planets she visits, the peoplewatching she does at ship ports, cities, and festivals. So sweet and sad at the same time. Every time I see her discover something and smile a little, it reminds me to take a step back, breathe, and try to enjoy the little moments and small things that we often forget to even consider.

NGL, I've been mad hyperfixating on the Force Awakens lately.

It's mostly Rey.

I just love her joy, and energy. And I love the chemistry she had with everyone in the clips of her I've seen.

She's legitimately my favorite Gal in Star Wars. If not my all time favorite character in general.

I really hope I actually get to sit down and watch The Force Awakens in full someday....

Great. Now I'm thinking about The Master Chief, the living weapon and ONI's/the UNSC's greatest soldier and posterchild of the Spartan II's vs John, the broken man who is just trying to do the right thing again. I did not need big feels today.

Nobody asked me but if you're ever stuck on understanding why Chief does things "it's what I'm for" is probably a good starting point for a guess

Rocket Flood Western Gun Battle

Yall are never going to believe what I did yesterday and unfortunately I don't have any evidence to back me up because I didn't catch it on video, but yall know that one particular rocket flood in the hallway on Two Betrayals? I one shot him without dying myself.

The story: I came up to that area, realized that was the hallway he was in, and approached cautiously. I waited for the flood and covenant to fight it out, and after a minute or so I walked around the corner, saw him, and just fired my own rocket launcher right at him and backed up back around the corner in case he shot at me. After a second I went to see if he was still there and he was dead on the floor.

It reminded me of a western 10 paces gun fight except we started far apart. Ngl, I lowkey felt like a god after that. Still don't know how I managed it and I for sure couldn't do it again if I tried.

I then proceeded to die several times to rocket flood out in the open towards the end of the level when I needed to cross the battlefield to get to the banshees to go to the final phase pulse generator...

BUT I still managed to kill THE rocket flood without dying. That alone makes up for the many losses I accrued.

I do this for the Sangheili because even as enemies I found them respectable. The other species I flop back and forth with except for the brutes. I will call them Jiralhanae occasionally, but I usually call them brutes out of deliberate disrespect. I believe they do have some respectable qualities, but for the most part their attitudes are disgusting. But maybe I need to refresh myself on their species a bit and see if I change my views.

Portal and Hermitcraft

Watching family play the beginning of portal 2 (the first portal game we've ever experience) and I can't get it out of my head that Wheatley sounds so much like Mumbo Jumbo. The accent, the vocal intonations, the mannerisms, I can hear and see Mumbo Jumbo doing and saying everything that Wheatley does and says and it's messing with my brain

POULTRY MAN HAS INFILTRATED MY SCHOOL PROJECT?!

I got to talk about Poultry Man for school??? I got pictures of him???

I had to do a creative photography project and chose to do Poultry Man modeling his hat. More info below. Unfortunately, my internet is being difficult and won't let me upload the photos here so I will have to get them for you later. (Edit: I got the pictures)

The discussion post I made in school:

"So my creative principle was creative because it is Poultry Man modeling the hat I made him. Who is Poultry Man you ask? He is a superhero made up by the youtuber Grian in season 6 of a Minecraft YouTube series called Hermitcraft. One day I was shopping at Hobby Lobby and saw a Minecraft chicken fidget spinner that had the exact dimensions for Poultry Man's head so I got it and made it a little origami hat (it's rather beat up now), colored it brown, and turned the chicken into Poultry Man. And then for this project I had him model his hat for me by walking down a runway I set up."

Personally I think it's Mangrove. Growing the trees in a deep pool or ocean with a conduit nearby and swimming through the tree to get to the wood makes it easier but it's still a pain in the butt.

The human-covenant war begins in 500 years as of a couple of months ago

It has come to my attention that this is 2025. According to Halopedia, The Human-Covenant war officially began February 11, 2525. I have no idea what to do with this information, other than research and comment on events as they happen in the halo universe over the next 27-28 years and beyond.

I wish I could live till 2525-2552 to either see it happen irl, or at least remind everyone that this story exists.
