“Emiiiiiiiiiiiillllll!!!!” Called a soft yet perfectly clear voice that just about everyone in Pomefiore had come to recognize as of late from down the hallway. Yuiishi sped through the opulent halls of the dorm with the sole purpose of catching up to his friend and birthday boy.

He slowed down his approach the closer he got to the beauty dressed in birthday silver, though his grin that reached from ear to ear did not falter for even a second. “There you are! The happiest of birthdays to you, my friend!”

Yuiishi looked seconds away from dropping the gifts in his hands—A homemade ice cream cake and what looked like a set of pjs carefully embroidered with Emil’s name and little designs that reminded Yuiishi of him—to wrap his arms around Emil in as tight a hug as he could manage, but thought of it better when he remembered there was food in one of his gift boxes. 

He opted to explain the delay of his own presents instead. “Sorry about not dropping these off at the birthday party, the cake would’ve melted and I was still fuzzing over a few details on the shirt.”

The brightness of Yuiishi’s smile softened just slightly as the gears in his head turned, as if considering how useful either of his gifts would be a bit too late. “I hope you like these, but don’t feel obligated to eat the cake—I’m sure you’ve had more than your fill of that at the party already—and you don’t have to wear the Pjs either. Just consider them a token of my appreciation for our friendship.”

"Oh!" the birthday boy let out a quick exclamation as the ice cream launched into his hands. He held it carefully, with the skill of a service worker, ensuring the cake wouldn't fall out of his hands. He led the two of them to the table with all the food on it. With that same grace and care, he slid the cake into a spot where it would fit, placing a knife beside it. A quick ice spell cast from his mage stone to keep it cool.

"This is really thoughtful of you," he beamed, "Thank you!"

As Yuiishi placed the embroidered PJs into his hands, he carefully unfolded them to give them a thorough look over. His fingers traced the stitches, each one clearly inlaid with care and consideration. His eyes lit up, elation and joy abundant.

Emil met Yuiishi's hug with an open embrace. Tight and squeezey and full of platonic love.

When Yuiishi pulled away, and commented about Emil not needing to feel pressured, the sunshine boy waved it away gently.

"Believe me, I appreciate your gifts so much," he explained, "I don't feel pressured- I want to eat it because you made it! I want to try them on, because you made it! It's special because its from you. And I hope you know that means more to me than words could say."

Malleus concept nr 4..... ☝

While I love the previous one, It was too...boxy. And as I began designing the other housewardens, he just looked too out of place.

He's still eldritch horror under there, just with more....slay 👍(more info in the previous post)

I wanted him to have a medieval style fit mixed in with trad goths.

Also I wanted his horns to look more like they're sprouting out of him instead of just being randomly jammed on his head

And added more dragon imagery because...that's what he is.

Idia concept nr 3!

Surprisingly, I found myself not exploring Idia as much as Malleus, mainly because I had a clearer image of him in my brain.

And....🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁he's emo! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

•The most important aspects of Idia's character design are his fire hair, the triangles, his sad sopping wet kitten demeanor and death.

So I tried to expand those as much as I could (Made the hair pop a bit more, lotsa triangles and skeletons in there.. His corpse like complexion...)

•Originally his pants were more skin tight, but I ultimately decided to make all his clothes baggy because he likes to hide his figure. I tried to make em as comfy as I could while also make em fit the emo vibes I was going for.

•Yes I named his tablet Megara because.....It does his bidding and...he owns it!....(GET IT??? GET I-)

Today's subject, slavery

Being told he could enter after his knock, Copper opens the door to Emil's room with his tiny wrapped gift in hand.

"Happy birthday!" he says, crossing the room to offer a hug first. "Hope ya don't mind, I didn't want this to get lost during the party."

He hands over the gift, a wrapped mini sewing kit that Sam just somehow seemed to know exactly what he was looking for but couldn't describe with the right words. After hearing Emil sigh over one of his needles breaking and having few backups, it felt like a perfect idea for a gift, and luckily with the way the last couple of weeks had been so busy, he'd been able to confirm Emil hadn't had the chance to replace them yet. And even if he somehow had and Copper just hadn't heard about it, more back-ups couldn't hurt, right?

Emil opened his arms, ready to envelop the younger student. The hug between the two of them felt tight and extra squeezey. For a moment, the sophomore held on a bit longer than usual, as if holding on to something he wasn't quite ready to let go of. As Copper stepped away, he beamed at him with the radiance of a morning dawn.

"Thank you!" he received the gift with gestures and an intonation far more overflowing with gratitude than his words alone could depict, "It's no problem at all. If anything, I'm glad you stopped by."

As Emil opened the gift, his eyes widened in immediate recognition, and the smile twinged with pleasant surprise.

"Wait... you observant- You didn't have to do this, you know!" he gently teased, though his tone still dripped in immense gratitude, "I really appreciate you. I hope you know that."

"Hermanito~" Laz crowed.

The stringbean of a man pranced up as a blue dot in a sea of royal purple. In hand, he held out a box. Something fragile--by the ginger way he passed it over along with the clank of glass--was inside waiting. Packed in foam was a box of metal barring, with panes of glass making up the sides. Inside was a remote, assumedly for the box as a plug-in cord unspooled out from underneath.

"Mira, You said somethin' about havin' a problem getting something to grow. Figured I'd put together a lil terrarium you can tweak and get all the conditions how you want. Check it: it's even got humidity control and the panes can adjust and let in the right amount of light."

Emil held the terrarium in his hands. The glow of his joy ever present on his face, radiating off his entire being. As he looked up at his much taller friend, his eyes glimmered like sun on water crests.

"Dude, thank you so much!" he exclaimed, "This will work perfectly, I think. It'll certainly help me create a mini-climate to put it in."

Carefully, he replaced the glass box into it's container. The foam fit snuggly up against the panes as he slid it into the box. With a level of grace expected of any Pomefiore student, he glided across the room. Beside the rest of the gifts, he set the already opened present, reassured that it wouldn't break in position next to the others. And without wasting time, he returned to his friend's side.

"I really appreciate you coming out here. It means a lot to me," he stated with a grin, "Please feel free to dance and eat to your heart's content..." and with a whisper and a covered mouth he said, "I made special babka. It's hidden in the back."

OOOH OOOH DOES EMIL HAVE ANY FAVOR— oop. Why am I yelling? Does Emil have any favorite birthday traditions, from his family or culture?

Aaaaah! Thank you for this!!

Even though usually it's just a dessert used for preventing food waste, Emil actually really loves Babka. And sometimes his mom will make a special babka for him. He also really loves throwing parties and family gatherings of his own. Like we know NRC throws dorm parties but like.... Emil is absolutely hosting an after-party for just his close circle.

Normally I would post the vignette first, but I'm still writing it oops. But I am honestly really proud of myself for finishing this one. Despite my frustrations, I do think I have improved a lot in rendering since his first bday celebration a year ago. He's grown a lot as a character, and I love him all the more now than I did back then.

Set to Home Screen: Let's take a tour, shall we?

Home Transition 1: This is my first time visiting an art museum, let alone volunteering at one. It's incredible how skilled the artists are.

Home Transition 2: Rook keeps marvelling over the artistry of some of the paintings. You'd think this place was one of his favorite places in Twisted Wonderland.

Home Transition 3: I keep staring at the massive statue in the foyer. It's supposed to be depicting some powerful wizard, but I'll be honest: this is the first I've ever heard of him.

Home, after Login: It's honestly incredible to see a folktale from my homeland be housed in an entire exhibit. I feel so proud.

Home Transition, Groovification: [LOCKED]

Tap Home 1: Ortho mentioned to me that most data bases tell the tale of the Lost Princess differently than how they do at home. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Tap Home 2: The smiling face of the Doting Mother is contageous. I can't help but smile back.

Tap Home 3: If I could tell you a secret? I've always envied the Doting Mother's renouned garden. When I get a place of my own, I want to grow a garden lush enough it'd make her proud.

Tap Home 4: A flower? I always heard it was greens and beans.

Tap Home 5: Reds and violets remind me of Pomefiore... do you think she would have been sorted into the realm of the Fairest of All?

I am actually really proud of this one. The Platinum Jackets are honestly so fun to render and challenge my understanding of color theory.

Also it's officially been a year since I started making TWST fan cards. It's kind of wild to see how much I have grown.... Happy Birthday, Emil.
