I burned some Orthodox resin incense in the burner today. It has the prettiest smell. It's just a pain to clean. I think the saints like it, though.

Praise be to God that these freaks could never take St. Cyprian and St. Justina from me. My sorcerer saints now and forever.
Just a normal level of the kind of moral bankruptcy you can find in the American branch of the Russian Orthodox Church.

I've been really getting into horror films lately, and my favourite subtype are horror films about the occult - my favourites are Angel Heart, The Craft, The Serpent and the Rainbow and The VVitch. Just wondering, as an occultist, how do you feel about occult horror, and if you've seen any of those films, what did you think of them?
I really like occult horror, I think it gets at a lot of fears that are present at different points in time. I like that these films pass along beautiful imagery that makes its way down to practioners. I think The VVitch is an interesting crossover between religious horror and occult horror because of how it portrays the beliefs of Puritans while using the Malleus Maleficarum as a basis for the witchy stuff. I would say that a lot of these films are made by outsiders to these traditions or practices and that is something to keep in mind when something like voodoo appears as a plot point. If you are interested, I would suggest looking into Alejandro Jodorowsky's films. He is very involved in the occult and his movies look very different from all of these movies. If nothing else, it is a useful point of comparison.

You have items that need to be cleansed. You have prayers that you have been putting off. Your altars are gathering dust. Now is the time to burn incense. Go and do the basic maintenance that you have been putting off. You will feel better once you do. Give yourself grace and then honor your obligations. Remember your promises.
