WHAT IS THE BEST FEELING FOR ME IN THE WORLD? The feel of an old book. Whenever I want to buy a book, I try to find its second hand or used version. I love the feel of an old book. The crisp yellow pages, the typewriter fonts, and of course the enticing fragrance of the book. I run my hands over those pages again and again and embrace them as if I have found a long lost treasure. Books that have personal notes, underlined words and get yellow stains with time. It makes me feel happy that I possess something that holds value. The feeling is incomparable, trust me. Next time, when you visit a bookstore, go to the old books section and try smelling them. They smell of happiness and joy of the people who have read them. They smell of wisdom and love! It’s a very small thing but it brings a big smile on my face. #bookstagram #book #books #bookshelf #bookquotes #bookclub #books #bookstagrammer #booksonbooks #books📚 #bookobsessed #bookaholic #bookaddict #booklover #loveforbooks #booklove #booksofinstagram #booksofig #instareads #reading #readingnook #followforfollowback #follow4followback #followfollow #followbackinstantly #follow4like #comment4comment #goals #passion #love https://www.instagram.com/p/CDyA3k7AghP/?igshid=1ck2fdg5hwb5o

MY FAVOURITE ROMANTIC FICTION NOVELS “Finding someone you love and who loves you back is a wonderful, wonderful feeling. But finding a true soul mate is an even better feeling. A soul mate is someone who understands you like no other, loves you like no other, will be there for you forever, no matter what. They say that nothing lasts forever, but I am a firm believer in the fact that for some, love lives on even after we’re gone.” ― Cecilia Ahern, P.S. I Love You Romantic fiction is my go to novel. I am a hardcore romantic and I love reading about love, romance, relationship and people in general. I have tried to list out my favourite ones amongst so many of them and these are not in any particular order, just arranged randomly. P. S. I hate uploading books that have covers with their movie posters but I din’t have any option in this case! Hope you all will also love them as much as I do. 1. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green 2. Dear John by Nicholas Sparks 3. P. S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern 4. Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell 5. A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks 6. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks 7. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell 8. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte If you have read any of these, please let me know your experience and what all did you like about it? #bookstagram #book #books #bookshelf #bookquotes #bookclub #books #bookstagrammer #booksonbooks #books📚 #bookobsessed #bookaholic #bookaddict #booklover #loveforbooks #booklove #booksofinstagram #booksofig #instareads #reading #readingnook #followforfollowback #follow4followback #followfollow #followbackinstantly #follow4like #comment4comment #goals #passion #love https://www.instagram.com/p/CDyr0cKgwGj/?igshid=biahkq54tncx

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY 🇮🇳🙏🏻❤️ Here are few of my favourites from Indian authors. While making this list I realised I haven’t read much of Indian authors and I really should! I definitely suggest you all to read Saadat Hasan Manto’s works because he has lived through Partition and his works bleeds of the struggles and pain he went through at that time! /Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata/ Steeped in Japanese tradition Nobel prize winner Yasunari Kawabata has created something almost otherworldly, like it belongs in a completely different time and place. Shimamura travels from the city to a village in the snowy mountains, and while in the company of a young rural geisha called Komako a strange love blossoms, but bound to the rules of the geisha Komako struggles with her emotions towards him and there is always a sense that sadness lingers . The snowy setting really captures the imagination especially at night where there are moments described so heavenly it goes beyond words. Shimamura is the character around which everything happens. His heart is cold. He sees surfaces, he admires beauty, but he lets nothing in. It is written in a very delicate lyrical style and the best thing about it is that it feels so light and gentle when you read it. A very different form of Japanese Literature. It is a very short read but it hits so different and hard. The story is impressionistic, revealed through glimpses and reflections. “his head fell back, and the Milky Way flowed down inside him with a roar” #bookstagram #book #books #bookshelf #bookquotes #bookclub #books #bookstagrammer #booksonbooks #books📚 #kawabata #bookaholic #Japan #booklover #murakami #booklove #booksofinstagram #japaneseliterature #instareads #reading #readingnook #followforfollowback #follow4followback #followfollow #followbackinstantly #follow4like #japanbooks #goals #passion #love https://www.instagram.com/p/CD8o9e0Ae0G/?igshid=1jong28a6ehlg

/Veronika decides to Die by Paulo Coelho/ This was our third book in the #theliteraturegeekclub and I am so happy we picked such an eye opening book. It is so insightful and I felt that this is what I needed to read in these difficult times! "An awareness of death encourages us to live more intensely." Having only week to live, Veronika re-discovers herself sexually and emotionally, falls in love, and starts having this eagerness to live. Veronica, someone who has got everything in her life that nothing matters to her anymore. She thinks she has got everything what a human needs to be happy and gets tired of a monotonous life of having everything. She ultimately decides to end her life as she thinks there is nothing else to want or need more to live. "The thought of suicide is a great consolation: by means of it one gets successfully through many a bad night. Nietzsche" She awakens from her attempt to realise that the attempt was not successful, but that she had cause damage to her heart with the medication that she had tried to overdose on and that she would die within days. What is she going to do now? This book allows the reader to reevaluate the importance of life and that each day is precious … not to be wasted. It is a transformation from irritation to hope, from disgust to pleasure. It reveals the uncertainty of life and it is also based on the awareness of life and death. As always Coelho has sinned me with his writings, I am so much in love with this book and it is so far one of the best book that I have read. " A lot of people go through the same difficulties we went through, and they react completely differently. We looked for the easiest way out: a separate reality." #bookstagram #book #books #thealchemist #bookquotes #bookclub #books #bookstagrammer #reading #books📚 #bookobsessed #bookaholic #quarantine #booklover #paulocoelho #booklove #isolation #booksofig #instareads #quarantinereads #readingnook #followforfollowback #follow4followback #followfollow #followbackinstantly #comment4comment #goals #passion #love https://www.instagram.com/p/CD8p3zaAKsq/?igshid=xiqsw77pueuz

/Lallan Sweets by Srishti Chaudhary/ Officially the most heart warming book that I’ve read in 2020. This beautiful tale is set in a small town of Siyaka back in 1995. Lalaji the owner of Lallan Sweets announced that his shop is not be given away in inheritance but it is something that needs to be earned. This sets Tara and her cousins Rohit and Mohit on a quest to find the secret behind the famous laddoos of Lallan Sweets. Tara has her own tuition centre known as the Ultimate Mathematics Tuition Centre as she wants to be an independent woman but when such a challenge comes here way she finds herself competing against her cousins to earn the famous Lallan Sweets shop. On her journey she comes across her childhood lover who also joins her in this journey. Now the question is, was Tara able to find the secret ingredient? And, who finally gets the store? This book is so wholesome and it made me so happy when I finished it. It is a mixture of family drama, love, romance and heartwarming fiction. I remember having a big smile on my face when I finished it. It is not just another love story but it is a storyline that gives value to love, life, friendships and relationships, all at once. Lallan Sweets is so beautifully written and it reminded me of my childhood so much. It was like nostalgia hitting hard. The 90s memories, the Bollywood songs references and basically the whole 90s theme of the book is so well written and beautifully narrated that it feels like you are living those times. It talks so much of the simpler times with less complicated lives and when people had time for each other and their families, that is one thing I liked the most about the book. The characters are so well written and they are very raw and weird and awkward in nature, the way humans are supposed to be. Like you can actually feel and relate to them. Tara’s character was really appealing to me because of her ambitious and independent views, I also liked how her character grows positively with time. This book made me feel like let’s just live in the moment. Let’s pause for a while, let’s go back to those simpler times, let’s dive back into the memories of those beautiful times. https://www.instagram.com/p/CD9ZdTwgNOM/?igshid=t8j3g523qn7v

/Those Pricey Thakur Girls by Anuja Chauhan/ Anuja Chauhan writes a very fresh and funny novel, full of delightful and tender moments of romance between Debjani, the leader of losers protagonist and Dylan, the cynical, hot and intelligent love interest. A witty and funny novel that transported me to the glorious eighties. The novel reminds one of Pride and Prejudice at times, especially the fact that there were 5 Thakur girls, and also that Dylan is so much like Mr. Darcy.  The author has left no stone unturned in characterization. Delhi's people are showed in true form, and it warms your heart to read about them, and their (not-so) petty trials and tribulations.  The author tells the tale of this crazy family in a hilarious manner which would make you laugh out loud. With hilarious situations and hilarious dialogues, it also holds a serious backdrop in between. I adore her characters, admire her wit and try to imitate the ease in her writing.  The story effectively skirts the line between frothy chick-flick and political gameplay. There are generous splashing of Hin-glish that never sound pretentious or forced. Really enjoyed this very different narrative of romantic comedy with twists. #bookstagram #book #books #bookshelf #bookquotes #bookclub #books #bookstagrammer #booksonbooks #books📚 #bookobsessed #bookaholic #bookaddict #booklover #loveforbooks #booklove #booksofinstagram #booksofig #instareads #reading #readingnook #followforfollowback #follow4followback #followfollow #followbackinstantly #follow4like #comment4comment #goals #passion #love https://www.instagram.com/p/CD-yTPhAwup/?igshid=fo5a6gfmkw0e

/We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie/ *AUDIOBOOK* I have been trying to read more by listening to audiobooks and it has worked marvellously for me because it lets me read when I am working out or when I am travelling or before I am going to sleep. It is a great way to read more and I would suggest you all to try audiobooks and see if it works for you. I used the Storytel app and it is an amazing app to listen to audiobooks and very easy to use also. Their collection is just so amazing! ——————————————————————————— “Not long ago, I wrote an article about being young and female in Lagos. And an acquaintance told me that it was an angry article, and I should not have made it so angry. But I was unapologetic. Of course it was angry. Gender as it functions today is a grave injustice. I am angry. We should all be angry.” Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a leading voice in African literature today. She has written three novels and one short story collection that have all won multiple awards. Two years ago she was asked by organizers of the TEDx talk to deliver a lecture on her views on feminism in the 21st century. We Should All Be Feminists is the published essay of her talk, and is a resource that is beneficial to all who read it. A short, sharp, and effective essay about gender, the wrong ideas many people have about feminism, and why it is so damn important. Even today. Adichie stresses that human nature has not advanced in over one thousand years. Then people were valued for their physical strength so of course men were considered superior beings. Today people are valued for their wisdom and intellect and women comprise 52% of the population, yet men are still ahead. This, she stresses, is because in many cultures, men are considered the breadwinners and woman the domestic workers even if the woman has a higher level of education and a job paying more money than her male counterpart. Adichie believes that in order for women to make strides in Nigerian or any society that people have to view women from a similiar lens as men, or the divisions in society will remain rigid. *continued in comments :) https://www.instagram.com/p/CD_MHW0giiA/?igshid=1tlxj2hvoeo6v

/Conversations with Friends by Sally Rooney/ This book is narrated in first person by a girl named Frances who is studying in Dublin and her best friend, who is also her ex-girlfriend, Bobby. Frances is thoughtful and cool whereas, Bobbi is effervescent and charming. In the first two chapters they met up a married couple, Mellisa and Nick. This whole book works around this rectangular dynamic & the different connections that can spring up between them. I feel that I didn’t appreciate the theme of story line of the book because I crave for stability, trust and healthy relationships in life which helps you grow & not intoxicating, emotional roller-coasters that people look out nowadays & then call them as complicated. It takes a deeper analysis of the nature and responses of these four people towards everything & each other. Like how one moves and responds to the actions or feelings of another. What I feel that the book lacked is the depth, same what I felt for Normal People. Not once did I feel any connection with the characters. The characters were very flat and lacked self esteem and to be honest, self loathing was too much to bear. It’s just that none of us would ever know these characters, because these characters do not want to be known. “You underestimate your own power so you don't have to blame yourself for treating other people badly.” I was very confused with the character of Frances because as the book moves forward, Frances’ main conflict was that she is unable to allow others to see her vulnerability, to see that she cares for them or is hurt by them or even that she simply enjoys their company. She wishes to be cool & distant & people somehow find her to be lovely. I feel this is just “too complicated” to explain yet again. It is a book with small instances of vulnerability, insecurity, humanity, and tenderness. The themes of the books, from my point of view were loneliness and the need to connect with others and they were very poorly discussed or presented. You can actually feel how high the walls of these characters were just to protect them from falling apart again & at points it just seems too much to take in. *continued in comments https://www.instagram.com/p/CECT9OSgGRC/?igshid=1ujcfs1maesof

/The Indic Quotient by Kaninika Mishra/ This book is all about the beautiful Indian Heritage and culture and it was a very different read for me because I normally don’t read this genre. It is the second non-fictional work of the author which is about ‘Reclaiming heritage through Cultural enterprise’. This book is altogether a different experience because it kind of takes you on an adventure through all of India, east to west and north to south. It talks about the origin of Ayurveda, Yoga, handlooms, etc. for which India is known worldwide and talks about how they originated and their significance in today’s times. It is an account of stories of real people who had this desire in them to spread their traditional methods of Yoga, Ayurveda and Herbal products (including skincare and cosmetics) worldwide. These were entrepreneurs who didn’t exactly have a lot of money to start with but they but had this zeal inside them to create something great out of their culture that they have been following for so long. It felt so amazing to read the experiences of such ambitious and passionate people, who had this desire in them to create something big and marvellous from scratch, without any professional help. They moved forward with only one thing, full trust and faith in what they were offering. I found this book to be very well written because it has everything from the history of the products to the current technological changes and advancements that have been made to them and how they are doing now. The basic concept was to put across the fact that how the traditional methods of India are still used by the modern Indians and how they succeeding in their endeavours. It is a great mixture of different generations of Indian people and it was a very interesting read. For people who are looking for books on history or non-fiction books based on India, this is the one to go for. #bookstagram #book #books #bookshelf #bookquotes #bookclub #books #bookstagrammer #booksonbooks #books📚 #bookobsessed #bookaholic #bookaddict #booklover #loveforbooks #booklove #booksofinstagram #booksofig #instareads #reading #readingnook #followforfollowback #follow4followback #followfollow https://www.instagram.com/p/CECZkhVAgfZ/?igshid=1n38hh84iigyt

I have been so tempted to read this book, Breasts and Eggs by @kawakami_mieko and finally @storytel.in released the audiobook!! Kawakami, who exploded into the cultural space first as a musician, then as a poet and popular blogger, and most importantly as a best-selling novelist, challenges every preconception about storytelling and prose style. She is currently one of Japan’s most widely read and critically acclaimed authors, heralded by Haruki Murakami as his favorite young writer. Cannot wait to start this😍 Tags: #booksofinstagram #bookcommunity #bookaholic #bibliophile #bookstagrammer #fiction #harukimurakami #nowreading #japaneseliterature #bookshelf #readers #📚 #japanesebook #bookoftheday #ilovereading #japan #bookgeek #bookalicious #readingforfun #ilovebooks #bookstagramfeature #booklife #bookaddict (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEOgRZqg-xb/?igshid=16c5bezgbxmz9

*MURAKAMI APPRECIATION POST* I am trying to understand literature and I feel Murakami’s work deserve to be like Classic literature because it is great work, you just need to dive in, give it some time, maybe re-read it and feel every word that he has written and you will realise how precious it is. On comparing with other popular literature, this author deserves all the hype that he gets. Because something doesn’t becomes a classic overnight, it takes emotions, efforts and dedication and that is what is really reflected in all the works of Murakami. This is my first time like I actually want to read all the works of an author and try to understand what he writes and why he writes them. The characters are so relatable and identical to people in general. The loneliness, the lost personalities, the weird aura around them just struck me so hard. He has this quality of writing that makes you wrap yourself around the storyline, the characters, the whole theme of emptiness and just want to feel the emotions completely, like devouring the story and everything about it. When I read my first Murakami, I realised that it filled a void inside me that I never knew existed. That is Murakami books for you. It kind of gives you that fulfilling satisfaction that makes you feel complete, inside out. Murakami’s books are all about where you are, what situation or point of life you are in. It is not about changing your life but about “okay, let’s understand what life all is about.” He is all about exploring life and not about making revolutionary moves. WHAT I HAVE LEARNT ON BOOKSTAGRAM IN THE LAST FIVE MONTHS? 1. It is your content that will make the difference. 2. Don’t run behind ARCs or free books, even if you don’t have them you’re still doing a great job here. 3. It’s alright if you don’t have 34792901633 followers. Your page and work still matters! 4. What is important is that you read and enjoy reading. You don’t have to force yourself to do it :) 5. The community is full of some amazing readers and there is so much to learn, invest your energy towards that. You will gain a lot. 6. Work on making your content more interesting and informative, that is the ONLY organic way to grow❤️ 7. Try to avoid people and groups who force you to be here. Don’t go after fake followers and likes. 8. Take a break once in a while, it is much needed. You need to free yourself from social media trap and Instagram algorithms. 9. Even if you’re reading ONE book, you’re still doing great. You are not here to compete, but learn. 10. It is OKAY if you read a book or an ebook or listen to an audiobook. It’s all the same. Do let me know about your journey on Bookstagram in the comments section 🌻 Tags: #bookstagram #book #books #bookshelf #bookquotes #bookclub #books #bookstagrammer #booksonbooks #books📚 #bookobsessed #bookaholic #bookaddict #booklover #loveforbooks #booklove #booksofinstagram #booksofig #instareads #reading #readingnook #followforfollowback #follow4followback #followfollow #followbackinstantly #follow4like #comment4comment #goals #passion #love https://www.instagram.com/p/CEWKBuVA7E3/?igshid=1xgo42qh3tzie
