Another eBay find! Michael Bryant as Wing Commander Marsh in Colditz. In the episode Tweedledum he feigns madness in an attempt to be let out of the prison on medical grounds.

I took a chance on a copy of the Radio Times advertised for auction on eBay. The description included the name Michael Bryant but I had no idea what to expect. I never imagined it was going to be a lengthy three-page profile! It’s fascinating to read and he really seems to have underestimated his talent. There is also little hint that he would spend the best part of twenty-five years working at the National Theatre

A commemorative set of stamps celebrating the work of writer Nigel Kneale. On one of the stamps is an image from The Stone Tape featuring Michael Bryant.

An eBay purchase. I love that it was written at the National Theatre, his second home!

In August 1968, Michael Bryant starred as Stirling Moss in the BBC play 'Mille Miglia' about the famous Italian race of the same name. I've never managed to find a recording of the programme, but this article in the Radio Times gives a feel of what it would have been like.

This lovely photo of Michael Bryant is a recent acquisition via eBay and IMS Vintage Images. Based on the writing on the back of the photo, this image seems to have appeared in the Oxford Mail in 1955. There is a stamp which says "20 Apr 1955" which tallies with some theatre programmes I have from the time where he was appearing at the Oxford Playhouse.

Found your blog while I was researching Robert Bolt's Gentle Jack, very grateful to find so much great material on Bryant both in that play and otherwise in one place!
Thank you! If you want any more pages from the programme for Gentle Jack then please let me know and I can scan them.

Another controversial play, largely due to one character having to break wind! I believe that a tuba was used.

From the February 1961 edition of Theatre World Magazine is a short piece on Michael Bryant taking over the role of Lawrence of Arabia from Alec Guinness.
