one of the things i hate the most about the hp fandom is the “slytherins are oppressed” rhetoric bc its bs and people get so upset about not having “positive slytherin rep” and go out of their ways to woobify and excuse the fucking vile actions of racist, classist, misogynistic fascists for the sake of “representation” for a fictional house.

I HATE IT SO MUCH HOW SHIPPERS (mainly h/hr and d/h) MAKE HERMIONE'S CHARACTER PERFECT AND COMPETELY OUT OF CHARACTER. they take away all of the traits that make people relate to her in the first place and only keep the smart part. And these fics tend to demonize ron + the weasleys and while mrs weasley can be frustrating with how she treats other women (that's a whole other rant) they are HARRY'S SURROGATE FAMILY. Ugh

It has always bugged me so fucking much how shippers, when writing fanfiction, always make the characters incredibly out of character to justify their ship. The main offenders are Dramione shippers, with Drarry ones in second place, because they erase all of Draco's faults and demonize Ron and Ginny. Seriously. If you need to change the characters to justify your OTP, then your OTP isn't a good ship.

Yes Harry Potter fandom, please tell me more about how this movie about witches and wizards in 1926 has to be historically accurate and that’s why there are only a handful of people of color with dialogue (and none of them are in the core heroic cast).

Look, I’ve looked at demographic records for NYC and there’s no mention of witches/wizards in any of the percentages.

Why is it that y'all can suspend disbelief enough to enjoy a film about magic in Manhattan on a super huge scale but people of color in the same fantasy film would be like… really freaking impossible to you?

Apparently, people of color can’t exist in the 1920s in Manhattan because that’s unrealistic but wizards, dragons and other magical creatures make all the sense in the world right?

Draco Malfoy is an awful character and I'm 100% sure the only reason people like him is because they have the hots for Tom Felton. Just compare him to Wormtail or Filch or Petunia. They're also awful people with a bit of tragedy to them but nobody gives a shit and I certainly don't see tons of fangirls woobifying them.

about that last ask about albus and scorpius not being in love: keep in mind JKR said that homosexuality is generally accepted by the wizard community and homophobia is not a thing there because wizards prioritize blood status over anything else so it's not like Albus and Scorpius are being held down by compulsory heteronormativity from realizing they are in love with each other and acting upon such feeling,

Evidence that they aren't in love (Albus and Scorpius) Albus said I honestly thought I'd be the first of us to get a girlfriend. Then Scorpius mentioned the new female potions teacher and Albus said he didn't have a thing for older women and then they talked about Rose again. Scorpius was taking Polly Chapman to a school ball, because Rose said no.

I actually hate all how everyone is saying about Cursed Child sucks and don't start on ships there was not one bit of evidence in the epilogue that Albus and Scorpius would fall in love. Only a subtle clue for Rose and Scorpius and Teddy and Victorie. Anyone who thought Albus and Scorpius would fall in love had been reading too much fanfiction and shipped Harry and Draco. Albus and Scorpius are best friends but near the end it clearly says they aren't in love.

Hey! Love this blog so much. This fandom can definitely be problematic. My blog used to be a sort of UghHp blog too where I'd make fun of HP confessions because, let's face it, they are a true indication of some of the tripe that comes out of this fandom and I literally had to stop because it hurt my brain. Its constant woobifyng and they know its wrong so they do it anonymously. Self aware fandom wank I guess! Great job on the blog.

I'm not a fan of Ginny Weasley or Hinny at all. Mostly because I just don't like her and it's kind of random how after not noticing her for, like, six years Harry had a sudden to bone her. But the Bonnie Wright hate has got to stop, she's a lovely person and some Potterheads need to chill and remember that she is just an actress playing a role.
