No? Please elaborate.
Anyone else notice that Pike’s picture thing in his bedroom changes depending on what’s going on?

Lately I’ve been entertaining myself by fan-casting DS9 characters as muppets and I felt compelled to put some of these sketches out into the world:
Gonzodo
Tumblr media
Quark the Rat (Quizzo? I don't have a good name for this one)
Tumblr media
Chief Fozzie O’Bear
Tumblr media
Major Piggy Nerys
Tumblr media
Vedek Kermit Bareil
Tumblr media
I have some for a few more, and I'm picturing Sisko as the one human cast member (though maybe Worf would be funnier?)

listennnnn strange new worlds keeps giving me whiplash. one minute they're rehashing (pre-hashing?) concepts that shouldn't be common knowledge until much later chronologically in the canon. the next they're being delightfully silly in a way that feels like the first star trek in the 21st century to really understand what its all about!!
the gorn are heartless killing machines, but they did a delightfully silly crossover with lower decks. spock is kissing every woman in sight, but theres a musical episode. we're doing the genetic enhancement plotline again even though it conflicts with julian bashir's plotline, but trelaine is back and its great. we're doing the holodeck WAYYY before it should exist BUT they're using it to lovingly parody their own source material.
its annoying and overpoweringly heterosexual BUT its also wonderful and episodic and silly and did i mention theres a musical episode
and then the latest episode is a documentary style exploration of the military and colonizer elements of star fleet and how they conflict with the mission and core beliefs of the people involved. and there's even a space dragon. episode of all time
i just love star trek at the end of the day

Seeing all the talk about how Seven brought in high ratings for Voyager & then actually looking at the ratings. 😕 Seriously was expecting huge ratings & instead the ratings kinda shocked me.🤣
In season 3 the show had finally found it feet similar to how TNG took a couple of seasons to find its footing. The writing had started to be more consistent & ratings stalized.
The studio & Co spent a tonne of money promoting "Scorpion" & the "Sexy Borg" was coming. And they got a bump of 2.42m for the episode. Resulting in a ratings of 10.28
By the second episode "The gift" they had dropped to 8.19 and by the third episode ratings dropped down to 6.60. The rest of the season had lows of 3.70 & 4.23. While other episodes pulled in 5/ 6 million.
In season 5 it was the same with ratings ranking from 4- 6 million. The only episodes to get a bump that season was the heavy promoted "Dark Frontier" with 7.43 and the lowest rating that season was "Juggernaut" 2.50.
Season 6 had the same with ratings ranking from most getting 4-5 million with only 3 episodes getting a 6m rating. And one of those episodes was heavy promoted due to "The Rock" appearance.
Season 7 ratings were 4- 5million. But the final did get a bump to 8.81.

Tuvok and Odo would spend six hours sitting in complete silence reviewing security reports and then go back to their quarters thinking it's great to have such a good working companion.

One of the funniest things about Star Trek right now is how adamant the writers are that the Enterprise has exactly 203 crew members at any given time.
Way back in the very first Star Trek episode, TOS: The Cage, Captain Pike says:
PIKE: My own yeoman and two others dead, seven injured ... You bet I'm tired. You bet. I'm tired of being responsible for 203 lives. I'm tired of deciding which mission is too risky and which isn't, and who's going on the landing party and who doesn't, and who lives and who dies.
Pike being responsible for 203 lives would indicate there should be 204 crew members including the captain, right? Unless Pike is including himself in that 203 count? Not to mention he just lost 3 crew members.
In DIS: Brother, Burnham says:
BURNHAM: Scans show 203 crew members aboard. The vessel's entire complement is alive.
Buuuut, we find out Spock took leave. I guess someone immediately transferred to take Spock's place?
In SNW: A Space Adventure Hour, we get the 203 figure again:
NUMBER ONE: Do you know how many crew we have on board? 203. Specifically, 203 of the finest Starfleet has to offer.
This is despite the fact that the Enterprise has obviously lost many redshirts in the line of duty while also gaining new crew members like Scotty.
Once again, SNW: What is Starfleet? repeats the 203 figure:
Tumblr media
How is this 203 figure so stable!?
To make matters even more confusing, way back in TOS: Charlie X:
RAMART: Like a whole city in space, Charlie. Over four hundred in the crew of a starship, aren't there, Captain? KIRK: Four hundred and twenty eight, to be exact.
Apparently Gene Roddenberry more than doubled the crew number in the updated show bible. In TOS: The Ultimate Computer, Dr. Richard Daystrom rounds the number to 430:
DAYSTROM: You can't understand. You're frightened because you can't understand it. I'm going to show you. I'm going to show all of you. It takes four hundred thirty people to man a starship.
Going from 203 to 430 crew members would certainly explain Dax's comment in DS9: Trials and Tribble-ations!
DAX: They really packed them in on these old ships.
Also, a graphic in DIS: Brother mistakenly says "Ship's Compliment: 430 (43 officers, 387 enlisted)". This info was pulled from Franz Joseph's Star Trek Star Fleet Technical Manual (1975):

if you’re going to be outraged about snw, at least know your facts. the statement “spock is the first vulcan in starfleet so kirk shouldn’t have served under a vulcan captain” is literally so nonsensical when t’pol predates spock by a century. it is never stated in tos that spock is the first vulcan in starfleet. what COULD be possible is that spock was the first vulcan to attend starfleet academy instead of the vulcan science academy. but spock is not, and has never been, the first vulcan in starfleet. the federation was founded by humans, vulcans, tellarites and andorians. how tf does it even make sense for spock to be the first?
the uss intrepid (tos: “court martial”) has an all vulcan crew! do you think those 400 vulcans joined starfleet after spock? come on.

One thing that makes me feel a little better about SNW’s treatment of the Gorn is the fact that SNW is confirmed to be set in the same continuity as Lower Decks via the crossover episode, and LD shows the Gorn as just being regular people instead of violent monsters. There was that bit about all those Gorn attacking and biting Rutherford at one of their weddings, but I don’t think the implication was that they were going to eat him. Across Trek there have been storylines about one sentient species formerly hunting and/or eating another (Anticans and Selay, Kelpiens and Ba’ul, Caitians and Betazoids, etc.) so it’s easy to assume that at some point the Gorn stopped hunting and eating humans.

Is Jess Bush as Chris Chapel adorable, spirited, and totally likeable? So yes.
Is she anything at all like the established character of Chapel? No, not at all. Majel's Chapel was restrained, cool, collected, elegant, mature. I could believe that Jess's characterization is meant to be an early 20s version, but not so close in age to Majel's as she is.
I 100% know that people do change. People also just grow up, especially if they're very work-focused. But much as I like Jess's version, I have such a hard time reconciling the two versions as one character.
I don't even have this much trouble reconciling Ethan's Spock with Leonard's.
