Have you ever experienced parasitic relationships within your closed ones? Parasitic relationships may be a new term for some of you but I am sure everyone does have some. Just like a parasite stays close & leeches on the good of your body, a parasitic relationship is similar.They feed off your exceptional capabilities & intelligence. They would appreciate you one on one but they would never uplift you in public. They would never want to credit you in public. Why? Because they are insecure about you getting ahead of them. Why? Because they see you prospering faster than expected. So, how do you find out who is actually leeching on you? The best answer is to closely observe times they keep asking support from you in their own distress but would never credit the support in public or would think inferior of you generally. Another sign is that once you leave the parasitic relation you will prosper more than ever.You will feel free of the expectation of being treated graciously. This is very important for your own peace of mind & for gaining your focus because then; you won't actually worry about that heartbreak every time you felt when you were dodged out publically in a very strategic way. You will not break into tears behind that door hoping they will be available similarly, you were available to them. But, the key to coping with such relations is that you always keep a lid on your ability to avenge because "vengeance" as it sounds to be very superlative, is not constructive. It puts you in a negative state of mind. It draws you closer to the negative perception of things & people around you, & you stop doing the good unconditionally. Just because someone has decided tit for tat, it inflicts an image of "doing good" even in a reciprocative way & foreseeing what benefits, social status & revenue it could bring to them. I know that the material world has taught us to see it as a trade but that's not how humanity works so it's up to you to decide if you want to stay humane or a trader. So next time you see closed ones benefitting from you in what they lack & then hesitate to support & uplift anyone but you, publically. How many times in a day do you binge eat? Well I guess up to 2 or 3 times in a day is good but people like me who keep binge eating almost every hour can totally understand what I am going to talk about. Yes, It is about healthy snacking and no matter how many times you do those snack attacks. We tend to advance too many times towards our pantries for those chips or nachos and daydream dipping those choco cookies in the kadak chai . While all these little bits of chuttar puttar snacking seem enjoyable, don't forget that all this will be going on your waistline too. I am a big culprit for eating chuttar puttar every 2 hours or so which is good in a way that it keeps your metabolism up but then I have to be aware that the snacking should be healthy. To counter that, recently, I have made this nut mix jar and have put it here on my dining table so I can go up to it whenever I am craving to munch something. I have included cashew nuts which are a good source of Vitamin E and a good source of minerals, particularly magnesium and zinc. I love raw almonds as they are rich in fiber & protein and they have the potential to also reduce hunger. I also this time added roasted chickpeas and some roasted corn. Chickpeas because they have low Glycemic index and are a great choice to kill those cravings in between meals & corn nuts for that added crunch. and how can I omit the sweetness of raisins because they have anti-aging and hair growth promoting benefits. Polyphenols, the special organic antioxidant present in raisins, helps in bringing the levels of cholesterol down by restraining various cholesterol-absorbing enzymes. Isn't it amazing that they are so sweet & at the same time so beneficial Well, while writing this post, I am planning to make this nut mix jar mandatory with a different set of nuts. Ok, This independence post is dedicated to my Brit friend @hannahlyse_this. I met Hannah back in 2014 at a previous job. Not only that, she would love it so much that she would want to come back. Hannah loved the raw beauty of my country, she was ok with no air-conditioning in my old “Suzuki Khyber”. I could not provide her a soft bed but the heart to heart talk we had that night was like two sisters who were finally reunited after a long time. I loved her because she loved my country, she enjoyed talking to the beggar children who looked at her beautiful blue eyes and yelled loud to each other “Oh she is a “gori”. She visited Lahore, Islamabad and then headed over to the northern areas and loved every bit of it. The class difference didn’t affect her love and sincerity for the average girl like me. To add to Hannah’s Pakistan story, she was also fooled by a Pakistani colleague of hers who for months hounded her with his confessions of undying love. What’s worse, was that when Hannah required his love, he left her broken and alone from their life in Dubai to go and get married. But they did not ruin her love for Pakistan. The day I got to know this, as a Pakistani, I was ashamed that One of my own countrymen has cheated her, got married and then his wife also mistreated her. It shattered her core but let me tell you it never shattered her faith in another Pakistani like me. My dear readers, being Pakistani is not about wearing green clothes and T-shirts with “Chaand Tara”.Neither, it is pinning your car adorned with the flag on the front or one wheeling with a flag on your bike. Being honest at your work, not just out of the country but in your own country. Being truthful and honest is the hard way, but always remember that wrongdoings are reflecting our image as a Muslim and a Pakistani too. The “Naya Pakistan” slogan will hold true when we will start becoming more accountable to ourselves by doing right, saying right & believing that righteousness will always get you and your flag higher. Today, was the day when the US bombarded their nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki and It hit me to write about a movie based on the then best seller of Ray Bradbury's 1953 Novel Fahrenheit 451. The approaching American communism after the nuclear bombings inspired him to write the novel which became one of the best sellers of all time. The name of the book itself Fahrenheit 451— the temperature at which paper catches fire and burns is also symbolic in many ways. The story depicts a society in future where most books are banned except for few like the bible or Moby dick. The lead character is played by @michaelbjordan a fireman named Montag who becomes disillusioned with the role of censoring works and destroying knowledge.The Authorities & Ministry blames unhappy attitudes, depression and conflicting ideas of people on reading books and sacks any secret libraries or safe houses where people read or learn books. Michael Shannon is Montag’s boss as Captain Beatty who actually is depicting the dictator rule of the governments and ministries which is propagating dissenting ideas as burning books. After a very disturbing suicide of a book reader, while blazing a library, Montag somehow gets a chance to read a book which made him question his ideas and thoughts. Montag eventually quits his job to join a resistance group who memorize and share the world's greatest literary and cultural works. He helps to save the treasury of books by reproducing the information through animals and is being confronted by the authorities sternly. Directed by Ramin Bahrani, book reading is a very thought-provoking story of how the mass media is discouraging & reducing the interest of the book reading culture. The movie runs in a deep dark environment, where Montag represents someone who just believes on what he hears and thinks that by doing his job he is supporting his father’s efforts for the government. The movie has an average rating on rotten tomatoes, and have not received much acclaim because of the depth it lacks to portray as compared to the book itself but it should be a must watch for anyone who is in love with books. The 3rd Mile... . Every single day while walking on the jogging track, I would cry & collapse with anguish while others passed swiftly behind me. Each day, I would complete 3 miles on this track. Broken, shattered & melting, here I was, facing nothing but setbacks in my personal life & elsewhere. Despite the fact, that it was difficult to get out every day from all the grief & sadness around me. Gradually, the pain became pleasure. I began to wait for that stroll at the track. The 1st mile would finish pretty quickly because probably, It would start up the positive sense of resisting the chaos in my inner-self. By the 2nd mile, my legs would support me but my mind won't.I would start to think about the remorse & failures, during these years. Regrets about why I gave in too much for other people? Why I gave so much space to my loved ones that one day, they started to feed on my flexibility to adopt tough situations? I use to feel so weightless that my steps would feel lighter than air & I wouldn't even know when I completed the 2nd mile. Yet, the 3rd mile used to get the most difficult, It would just break me down, shatter me into pieces, making me feel I am losing all in life. The mental breakdown would just hit me to halt my pace & sit on a bench in the corner & let my sorrow have a chat with me. It seemed as if, everything in front of my eyes has become amorphous & dim, the future, present & everything I had left behind. But If I had to lose it, it wouldn't be me. It was the tenacity & the preservance I was born with. I remember during my teen years, I would just keep writing on the exam papers, until the end even if I didn't know a word in response to a given question. I would still give my mind a thorough search for even a tiny bit I could remember about that topic. This was actually beating my mind's algorithm of giving up. It would give me a certain satisfaction that I have tried my best no matter what. Guess, I had already decided on one thing & that was to show my loss, sorrow, & grief every single day that people like me are invincible. The forgetful me exhausted all the options to manage my shopping list, to-do list or every day "coping with shit" list. So a workaround came across my mind and here I am with something on which I can scribble, erase, repeat. This DIY chalkboard was not made from scratch but rehauled In fact because 1) It was a whiteboard for kids and I wanted something little more than a kid's board and 2) it was to be used as my quick notepad without me running after pens and paper. People who follow me on insta stories might remember when I created this piece. It was a 2-minute job for me as I had the Chalkboard paper there with me. but if you don't seem to find it, you can also use chalkboard paint which is available on the @kansaipaintpakistan website easily.Once this DIY was done, I used a magnet to hang it on the fridge. But the real deal is something else; the real deal is utilizing it regularly because we all know that us humans get bored from everything quickly. we are bound to stick to the basics and adopting change is always tough. To manage my daily chores with this new DIY is not difficult yet, seems quite interesting as it will keep me focused and directed towards my daily goals because i will be catching sight of it everytime i am cooking,eating, snacking or even heading out. Nonetheless, let me know, how can I keep using it on regular basis and what else can I write on it to get me going? P.S.
