The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.
Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.
So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.
Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

GARFIELD EVOLUTIONARY TIMELINE

1976: Proto-Garfield, side-character to Jon

1978: Earliest properly-recognizable Garfield, visual overhaul accompanies syndication and retitle of comic to Garfield

1979: Transitional state between proto-Garfield and 80s Garfield, marketed by increased anthropomorphization and larger, cartoonish expressions, while retaining a realistic body shape

1980-1984: 80s Garfield, facial structure has largely stabilized save for dimensions, noticeable retention of quadrupedal motion in most situations

1985-1992: Emergence of modern Garfield, shift towards predominantly vertical locomotion, expansion of feet, facial structure begins to horizontally compress and vertically extend

1989: [REDACTED]

1993-1999: Continued anthropomorphic shift, separation of head from torso and reduction of belly fat, noticeable

2000-present: stabilization of modern Garfield, head size reduced in final proportion alteration. Jim Davis had divined the final, perfect version of his pop culture homonculus.

...but the end of the road for one man is a broad horizon for the next...

AI could never do what I do, but that doesn't mean it won't fake it. I will never use generative AI in any of my projects. Ever.
Reblog if your art project has not, does not, and never will make use of generative ai at any point in your creative process.

Gotta say, the poll was right! Magenta looks great.
I can't decide which color to use for Star Catcher's tinsel, so you get to pick! Which do you like better for the ultimate trans pony, rainbow or magenta?

I’ve never had a reheading go this horribly before. I’d say I’m pretty good at beheading- I may have broken a neck once or twice, but never any parts I actually liked or intended on keeping, and usually a reheading is the easiest thing, right? Just a little squish and a pop and done, a complete person. But this time it just- it just won’t go back on the body?? Which is incredibly frustrating but also, like, why??
And the funniest thing is, I’m not even swapping a head!! This is a curvy dancer head going onto a curvy dancer body!! They match!! This should have been so simple!! But no, this head’s just flopping around like a limp flaccid idiot and my hands are all red and sore now but the head just isn’t attaching all the way!!
Today I did six beheadings and two other reheadings, and I wanted to get this one attached so I could take a picture, but somehow it just isn’t working!! The head is just getting squished around but isn’t stretching over the neck right!! And I’m way too lazy to go and boil the head just to make the slip easier!! And I don’t wanna keep forcing it cuz I might break something but this is!! So frustrating!!
Like, what could I possibly be doing wrong!! Fuck!!

I got an ask about commissioning me to deglue some doll heads and I don't do that for people.
It's a pain in the butt and I don't want to.
And, while I will say "I figured out the solution to Mattel's head glue", it was truly a collaborative effort.
@dolldirt mentioned using a floor cleaner and it worked, but he's not in the US and that floor cleaner didn't exist, here.
I decided screw it, I'll try this multi-purpose cleanser I COULD get called L.A.'s Totally Awesome and it worked (no others did)! So that's what I've been recommending to people, though it's a long, slow process and not very fun.
@firespirited did some research on the ingredients in the floor cleaner and Totally Awesome, found they both share ethoxylated alcohol (at least, I think that's what it was), did more research and found the same ingredient in CIF Cream cleanser (sometimes JIF, depending on region), but CIF also wasn't available in the states so I kept recommending Totally Awesome.
Scrub Daddy acquired CIF not too long ago, and now CIF is available here.
Where Totally Awesome can take a few days of soaking to get rid of the glue, CIF works really fast when applied like shampoo. However, that does only clean the hair on the outside of the head and not the glue inside the head whereas soaking in Totally Awesome will get the glue inside the head, too, so it would need to be redone now and then.
Regardless, it's great to have another option that works to remove the glue instead of just covering it up and hopefully it'll become even more readily available over time.

ATTENTION Western Ohio Toy Show VENDORS: I may have your missing box of toys!
During load out, I found this box sitting in the field to the east of the building, where many of us parked. It's packed with some pretty awesome stuff! Unfortunately, it's the type of item many vendor sell and the DC number is old enough I wasn't able to get a clue about where it came from. If this box looks familiar, please message me with the contents of the box and a photo of your price tags on similar product so I can get this back to the right person.
Feel free to share this post so we can track down the vendor!
