being sick & miserable objectively sucks, but it has become significantly easier to cope with since learning that “sickness behavior” is a well documented part of the body’s immune response

feeling not only physically but also emotionally like fucking garbage is unfortunately an extremely effective way to force your body to prioritize fighting infection & keeping you alive. i don’t have to like it, but knowing why i get weepy & pathetic when sick does help at least a little

*le sigh*
i have decided
that I must rely on Tumblr
not threatening at all
so, I set a goal for ye-
3500 Notes- I come out to my dad by text, only saying "I'm gay"
5000 Notes- I come out but in real life interaction, still only saying "I'm gay" (no elaboration)
6500 Notes- I come out in person, with elaboration on what flavour of gay I am
Setting myself to check back in on this post this Tuesday (26th Aug [y'all have 4 days, AEST])
i both hope it doesn't hit 3500 and also really hope it does

"average person runs 3 ttrpg a year" factoid actualy just statistical error. average person runs 0 ttrpg a year per year. Brennan Lee Mulligan, who lives in cave & runs over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

Sometimes reading Arthuriana feels like reading Alice in Wonderland.
“Well,” said Alice, “these are a dreadfully strange assortment of objects!”
“They all symbolize different aspects of Our Lord’s martyrdom,” said the Fisher King, casting a line into his teacup.
“Indeed. I am sure everything symbolizes something else, for if everything was only itself I should be very confused. Might I ask what the point of the bleeding lance is?”
Alice regretted asking the question as soon as she had done so, for she saw the pun that would likely be made about the word point. Instead, however, the room erupted in applause and shouts of “The Grail! She has achieved the Grail!”
The next castle she visited, Alice resolved to herself as the inhabitants of this one danced for joy, would be more sensible.

What was your obscure chatroom/forum that you used before social media? Don’t say Gaia Online or Club Penguin. I’m talking obscure.

okay so I'm curious now:
which one would be more dangerous when encountered in the wild: a sun bear, a polar bear, a grizzly, a spectacled bear, or a black bear?
THE POLAR BEAR, FULL STOP.
all of the other bears on that list may very well attack you with fatal results if they decide you're a threat or an interloper, but the polar bear is the one that WANTS to eat you, and if you're not careful, WILL eat you.
prey is scarce in the arctic and polar bears are big animals, so they've evolved to be long-distance stalking predators that will NEVER turn down a warm meaty meal, weird opposable thumbs or no!
if you see a polar bear in the arctic, even if you're with a group, take extra care the next few days to make sure that it's REALLY gone and not just following you at a distance to learn your habits and ambush you when you least expect it!
more than one arctic researcher didn't change up their routine often enough and opened the station door for their smoke break only to find a polar bear waiting for them patiently on the other side, at which point they were dragged off onto the ice and never seen again.
I would say it's a grizzly fate, but that pun would be simply unbearable.

to get a job you have to have 10 years of experience in every possible tool and task that could even tangentially be related to what you'll actually be doing and then you have to prove that you're the smartest person in the world and you're organised and proactive and have great problem solving skills. and then if you beg on your knees like a dog enough and actually get the job, the entire first week will be doing spent reading shit like: 'MANDATORY HEALTH AND SAFETY TRAINING: if the floor is SLIPPERY or BUMPY, you might TRIP. this is BAD. please take this test to check your knowledge. question 1: is tripping bad? yes/no'

3 weeks old today. We keep them separate from the bigger kittens but Sriracha (white paws) keeps moving them into the common area. Biscuits thinks they're toys...

The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.
Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.
So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.
Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

I'm about to take in my husband's long term disability company because they denied his appeal even though he has Ehlers Danlos and is in constant pain and can barely move most days. They said he can do sedentary jobs. He can't type because his fingers don't work well.
