I've had a thing for NGC 602A since I first saw it some years ago while looking at NASA images. I can't quite put my finger on it, but there is something to this particular image that gets to me. The first time I painted it a few years ago it turned out to be my first successful attempt at space art (or the first time I thought I had success trying to paint space art). This is one of my favorite paintings I've ever done. The palette made me nervous given the colors were a little outside of my comfort zone but they worked. I've finished up working on two (swipe right) smaller 8" x 8" gallery wrapped canvases as a sacred geometry side project for my Patreon. I chose to use the monarch butterfly in these pieces to represent the mirrored symmetry it shares with the eight pointed star.
