Hello! I'm trying to think of some scent notes for a character/their signature perfume, kind of like Yennefer of Vengerberg (Lilac and Gooseberries). The images are the sort of vibe/imagery I want it to elicit ^
I thought maybe amber or possibly bergamot? But I'm not sure how to incorporate the more ethereal, stormy/cold side
I'd love to know your thoughts!
Thank you <3
This is so interesting 🤍
Here are some notes I thought of as I was looking at these images.
Orris root; incense; pink pepper; vetiver; leather; resin; neroli; cassia; musk rose; sage ✨

What’s a sultry, yet sophisticated perfume for someone that’s charming and outgoing but also shy and mysterious?

can you recommend me something that smells like liturgical incense, catholic churches or dead flowers water not with halloween/autumnal vibes but more in a warm but sad and melancholic sunday walkin through the cemetery kind of way?
🌹 Amber Kiso, DS & Durga
🌹 Angelique Sous La Pluie, Frederic Malle (more rainy cemetery walk than church incense)
🌹 Bois d'Encens, Armani Privé
🌹 Avignon, Comme des Garçons
🌹 Hwyl, Aesop
🌹 Patchouli 24, Le Labo

hi pat, hope you've been well! before i gift myself a perfume for christmas, would you give me your thoughts on l'interdit by givenchy, 212 elixir by carolina herrera and j'adore by dior? you've been my go-to for fragrance reviews for years and the only opinion i trust on this matter ♡ thanks in advance!
hello ♡
If we're talking about the EDP for the J'adore, I think it's quite soft and musky. To me it feels more musky than floral. It has an elegance to it.
L'interdit EDP feels sweet and woody to me, with a strong underlying scent of patchouli. I think the dry down really matters for this perfume, because if you find patchouli too heady you may not enjoy this after some time.
I haven't tried the Carolina Herrera.
Of these two, I think it's a question of personal taste. The first is a floral with a strong musk base and the second is floral woods with a strong patchouli base. I hope you like whichever you choose, but if you can, try and test it out for a day before you buy it!

Á La Nuit isn’t discontinued, it’s just in the more expensive bell jar line now. It’s been out of stock a while but if they were going to discontinue it I think they would have taken it off the website at the same time Mandarine Mandarin and El Attarine disappeared a couple months ago
okay!! This is good news!! I couldn't find it on a cursory search but thank you for telling me!

I hope this isn't too weird of a request, but can you recommend me a scent that replicates petrichor- earthy and fresh but not masculine ? Thanks !!
I haven't smelled anything that really reminded me of petrichor, but Angéliques sous la Pluie probably comes the closest.

Hello! Have you tried YSl libre? Do you think it could be a all year round sent/what do you associate it with?
I really like YSL Libre! A cousin of mine wears it as her signature scent so I completely associate it with her personality - ambitious, humorous, beautiful 💜

hi! do you have any recs for a law student in her early twenties who wants to find an elegant, yet clean and fresh scent? i like ck one and angel schlesser femme, but don't feel like they have the sophisticated air i want to project, and I've tried chanel gabrielle and 1957, which have the elegance part down, but are too heavy for me and seem age-appropriate
You might like to try Hermès scents. They have several perfumes in that category.

Hey!!! I've tried Estée Lauder Beautiful Magnolia. My first impressions of it - very feminine, a clean, fresh floral with a bit of sweetness. It feels like a blooming garden in spring. I cannot distinguish any notes, feels very blended together. I'd say it's a chic and delicate, inoffensive, office-appripriate perfume. On the downside, it also seems a bit purposefully generic to me, similar to many others of the same category but to no particular one.
I've smelled this too now - completely agree!

Not a q, just something fun that happened to me today! I'm decluttering and found an old bottle of Chloé Narcisse stashed away that my nan gifted me as a teenager. Apparently it's discontinued now! The opening is a little acrid and strong on me but it's drying down into this beautifully subtle (but still powerful) spicy-sweet floral...
I haven’t seen it in shops, ever! So lovely that it’s retained its character. Thank you for sharing this.

I'm very curious about Maison Margiela's Replica Scents. The aesthetic and idea behind it (connecting scents with scenery and memories) just appeals to me. I want to try out Bubble Bath, Lazy Sunday Morning and Beach Walk :) What's your opinion about them?
There are some I like a lot and some that I don’t find very interesting. My favourites are By the Fireplace, Flower Market, Coffee Break.
Jazz Club is a fan favourite but I found it too alcoholic/boozy for my taste. Sailing Day and Beach Walk were a little too faint.
I do like the concept though.

Hey! Do you have any perfume recommendations inspired by Cleopatra?
There's been some research into the sort of perfumes and notes that Cleopatra would have worn. The perfumes from ancient Egypt were strong, with notes of myrrh, cardamom, cinnamon.
Nefer by Parfum Prissana is inspired by the archaeological remains of ancient Egyptian scents and contains these notes.
Other perfumes that I could imagine Cleopatra wearing:
Crepusculum Mirabile by L'Artisan Parfumeur - sandalwood, jasmine, tonka bean.
Marrakesh Intense by Aesop - cardamom, clove, sandalwood
Jo Malone Myrrh and Tonka Cologne - lavender, myrrh, tonka bean

what perfume do you think irene adler would wear? thinking of the bbc sherlock. something musky i reckon
I think Irene would wear something smoky, seductive and strong - something like Le Labo's Vetiver 46. She'd enjoy that it's typically categorised as a 'male' perfume, too.
Among the 46 essences, pepper, gaïac, labdanum, and cedar lend themselves to the wicked moodiness of this perfume…
Each expresses strength of character in its own way, and the delicate accompaniment of olibanum, a mysterious incense, leaves an intriguing spiritual dimension in its wake.
