Book covers that rolled out in 2025.
We admit, we used a little bit of AI and we’re not as ashamed of it.

We welcomed a new granddaughter to the clan. 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
The grandsons + great grandsons still out number the girls.
15 grandchildren + 7 great grandchildren = How many is that now? 🤔 22 Yep twenty-two grand darlings!!
And only eight of them are ♀
Oh well.
They’re ALL a joy & a blessing!! 🥰

So……
I went to Splash Kingdom yesterday with a 13 year old.
HOURS [upon hours] of walking barefoot on wet concrete in the Texas heat should not have been my first full day of summer activity. I had to pretend I was disappointed that they were closing the park at 6PM. Internally I was praising the LORD. 😂 The hubby was amazed that I lasted all day- I told him hell I was too.
Here’s the kicker, We weren’t home an hour and this child was complaining her bones were hurting and she was so tired & achy she had to put her ice cream in a bowl instead scooping it into a cone. Can you imagine? Having to settle for a cold, harm ceramic bowl instead of an edible delicious cone? The horror!
All I could say was, “bless your little heart” while I dabbed at the oozing blisters on my feet.
Would you like to know why she was laughing in the selfie of us?
Because she’s mean. She’s just mean.

I was thinking of Leia today. She was a dog my daughter rescued from euthanasia & left with us on the farm. Her crime? I’m not sure other than being an undesirable white shepherd; a black sheep that sullied the breeding pool. Leia was oftentimes mistaken for a husky because of her beautiful icy blue eyes. I never cared, I simply thought she was beautiful.
We could never make her understand the boundaries of the 10 acre farm - she felt sure it extended to a half mile radius.
Finding the photo of a book cover with her (playing the part of Gus) left me a little nostalgic.
It’s oddly amazing how animals touch our lives. Our hearts.
In loving memory of Princess Leia. I’ll see you in the clouds one day.

Another Spring (Another #NPM )
Audio podcast available Another Spring You were hiding, waiting there beneath the frost so much more patient than I. My soul beckoned from a wintry slumber Fretful and anxious Weary and depressed fearful you had abandoned me and then as promised, you appeared. Breathing life into the naked limbs; into the bare breasts of Mother Nature until Summer’s heat met autumn’s leavesand…

In the Storm (April is National Poetry Month)
The Storm (#NPM ) In the Storm I reach for you… With every crack of thunder I hear you laugh… Your smile is every bolt of lightning. The drops of rain, you touching me, with unsalted tears… No more pain; no more regret. I raise my arms, as a child beckoning to be held and it pours. My grief is washed away by stinging pellets of a spring rain Leaving behind a clean slate with…

As If #NPM
As If As if your shoulder brushing against my breast in a crowded room meant anything to me… As if your smile would thaw my frosty heart… As if your constant assurance could overcome my cynicism… As if the invisible boulevard would never rise up and beckon. The street lamp glows in the bleached mist only three floors below us. I blow streams of smoke into the black night and hum to the…

Crazy Conversations (Just Another Dull Day with the Family)
I haven’t posted a Crazy Conversations in a long time so here a short video to make up for it. Cotton, peas, your friends, your seat, your nose… There are a lot of things you can pick. Family isn’t one of them.Disclaimer: Life is crazy, people are crazier and my family… well they get the crazy award if there is one. I

Saint Patrick’s Day (Throw Back Thursday)
Here’s a little something from 2015. And ya know what? I think I understand now what that old man was talking about. About those Snakes… An old man once told me, “Saint Patrick ran the snakes out of Ireland and now they rule the world.” I am not 100% certain as to what that means but I do reflect on it every year. In the mean time…

Read an eBook Week #Tbt
Ah I vaguely recall my start as an independent writer; it almost seems like a lifetime ago. I can’t even remember how I found [the oddly named] Smashwords, but I am glad we connected. Mark Coker’s publishing platform really simplified my life. And then Draft2Digital with Books2Read came along with their pretty little layouts and boom I had a new crush. And a new distributor. But I never left…
