If you are three square meals a day every day on time without interruption, it’s not implausible that you might go a pretty long time without noticing that you’re incapable of feeling hunger, that unlike other people you just never feel “hungry”.
In fact, seeing as how we’re all SUPPOSED to eat three meals a day to stay healthy, it might take a pretty big thing for you to even get the chance to notice that “hunger” isn’t something your body does.
Given the right circumstances in fact, a fifty year old who cannot feel hunger might go on a camping trip, get lost in the woods, and be on day three of wandering around without food before the lack of that sensation ever occurs to them as odd for the very first time.
Which is probably a very similar experience to people who don’t realize they’re trans, asexual, gay, queer, intersex, mildly colourblind, allergic to beets, whatever, and why it probably shouldn’t shock and surprise us so much when a 65 year old retiree comes out as queer or vehemently defends the idea that potatoes are spicy
Which I conflate in this hypothetical because it really does highlight the exaggerated value we place on one realization vs the other

the human mind is prone to catastrophizing when left unoccupied. And that’s why it’s important to always have a little Blorbo to rotate in your head. It acts as a protective charm of sorts to redirect your imagination away from harmful spirals
thoughts without Blorbo: oh my god I was so cringe in seventh grade why did I do that
thoughts with Blorbo: I haven’t considered the interactions with bleebus; I must rectify this immediately

Okay this is gong to sound condescending on several levels but:
There's a kind of cliche about training a dog - that if you want it to always come when it's called, you should never scream at or punish it when it does. Even if you just spent twenty minutes getting increasingly panicked thinking it was dead in the woods! Even if it had been trampling through the neighbors garden! It is very important that it's direct association is 'stopping whatever super interesting thing I was doing to go back to human = being praised and rewarded'. If the association is instead being screamed at or punished, the dog will be less enthusiastic to stop whatever fun thing it's doing to run to that.
I feel like a great many people would noticably improve their own lives if they started applying the same logic to how they treated other humans.

Do you want to be politically pure in theory or help your neighbor. Is it fruitless to help your neighbor because there's no Perfect Pure way to do it ?

Today I saw a pic of a baby cowbird next 2 its nest "parent" and it was so much bigger!!!!! Which is the sort of thing that gets normal people upset about the injustice of nest parasitism but makes *me* worry if baby cowbirds get bird dysmorphia

couldn't finish my art for today, so instead, i'll be posting higher quality versions of almost all the textures used in yttd. ♡
sprite texture found in the files. its original source is clip studio paint, specifically the cork 02 asset. set it on multiply and lower the opacity on everything but the skin, or you can directly edit the colours if that's what you prefer.
cutscene overlay, and background. add the first one on everything but the skin as either soft light or overlay, slightly lower opacity, you can also add it on the shading of the skin. you can also edit the colours to use for backgrounds. second is frequently used as a background.
you can add this on top of cgs as well.
the textbox. there's both a complete version, and ones where the box and nameplates are seperate. the font used is m+1m regular, text is usually pure white with names coloured in FFFFA0. additional colours can also be found on the additional resources page on the wiki.
hallucinations texture, applied similarly to the main sprite texture in that you apply it to everything but the skin.
chapter two disclosures, self-explanatory.
war of words background, be sure to lower the opacity slightly when using. original source is shock 01 from csp assets.
all of these are from csp and were manually edited except the scarf since i couldn't find the original asset. sonobeno tie and skirt, watercolor checkered and japanese pattern 01_is. hinako stockings pattern, argyle_transparent_is. sou scarf pattern, gradation dot_transparent_is.
manual recreations and edits, these may have mistakes. cut-in backgrounds, and the chapter three memory background. someone more skilled could probably make a better version.

miscellaneous. unused paper texture from the files, and a recreated background for the cg of shaking hands with shin from chapter two.
