Today's merchandise roundup is brought to you by...the giant Rick I saw at a head shop!

I wanted to take him home, but at $85, he was just too expensive. I'm sure he'll have a good life at somebody else's house, holding their ashtray and watching Aqua Teen Hunger Force reruns.
This same place also had a selection of pipes:

I couldn't get the greatest pictures because they were in the box, but Rick and Morty has made it to vape batteries.

The return of Gangster Rick.

Aside from that, I've been checking Spencer's every weekend, hoping they'll have a season eight merchandise blitz. But nope--nothing. One of the "nerdy" stores did have a DVD copy of everyone's favorite anime:

I notice that the description focuses solely on Takashi Sano's earlier shorts and not, you know...the anime itself. I guess Adult Swim's well aware of the reception.
Toxic Morty was in the same store, hanging out with all the other unwanted Funko Pops.

Rue 21 had a new jersey. Rick laughs, Morty screams--pretty standard.

Charlotte Russe hasn't had much Rick and Morty apparel in a while, but they pleasantly surprised me with new undergarments!

Pickle Rick reminds us that he will never die by appearing on a set of Five Below socks.

They also had a set of playing cards in a fancy tin! I love the illustrations.

Finally, they had a new poster in stock. I love the retro-ish design and graffiti logo. We've all seen that image of them stepping out of the portal, so it's refreshing when the artists try a new style.

Hopefully, the next merchandise roundup will have a giant Spencer's haul. And if not, we'll have actual new episodes to talk about pretty soon!

every day I see posts (which I agree with, many of which I reblog) which are like
- you notice how even the shallow co-opted “body positivity” framing is gone now and everyone is back to overtly praising thinness
- you notice how disability related slurs are being used constantly now, like they were in the 90s and 00s, even by people who were social justice posting 5 years ago
- you notice how all the white celebrities were appropriating Black culture & aesthetics and now everyone is playing up their whiteness
- you notice how the “resistance” liberals are now conspiracy reactionaries
- you notice how people who made their whole identity being (liberal) feminists in the 10s are now posting nonstop misogyny either through self-infantilizing “girl” blogging or repackaging unpaid reproductive labor while economically dependent on a male partner as an “escape” from capitalism or promoting restriction of autonomous sexual behavior as if that is praxis
- you notice how increasing numbers of cis LGB+s are joining transphobic movements and seeking to separate themselves from gender nonconformity
- you notice how increasing numbers of TME trans people are basing their understanding of gender on a foundation of transmisogyny, echoing harassment tactics from gamergate MRAs, and eventually attempting to make the pivot to participation in reactionary “detrans” grifting
& I just wanna say all of this is real and happening at the same time because we are living in an acute fascist resurgence.
most people are getting more (openly) reactionary in an attempt to maintain their grip on their previous access to power/resources/social status or to attempt to find a place for themselves in a far right social order. it’s worth noting that most people were never really invested in or principled about liberation for fat, disabled, black, poor, feminized, trans, or transfeminized populations in the first place, of course. but it is now actively advantageous to express anti-fat, ableist, racist, reactionary, misogynistic, transphobic rhetoric and to glorify overtly eugenic ideals. So people who believe in eugenic ideals and people with no principles alike are doubling down.
& tbh, I fully anticipate this will continue to be the case, especially in the global north as people who once had access to some kind of economic stability experience a steadily lowering quality of life and an increasing amount of political repression and precarity.
all of it is connected and none of it is trivial.

I organized a 'Broken Tablet' event based on 'The Locked Tomb' with my friends! 'Broken Tablet' is a game where one artist draws an artwork, then blurs it and sends the blurred image to the next artist, who draws what they see. And here’s what we’ve got!

The participants in order:
cbrcbbr (Tumblr, Twitter)
moxidi (Tumblr)
Fonserel (Telegram channel, Tumblr, Twitter)
Griddle
JackAl
Dani (Tumblr)
clubnich (Tumblr, Twitter)
Tanuki (Tumblr, Telegram channel)

My favorite thing about this website is it will recommend you the blog and their mutuals after you like one person's post and sometimes that's great because you can find new artists to see or funny posts. But also sometimes you are privy to discourse within that blog circle that you can't even imagine.
#I enjoy checking out blogs that are a little 'out there' and seeing what's going on in their corner of the internet#text

crazy how every time a female character gets cliche misogynistic writing we have to explain to people again that fictional characters are not real and do not choose things for themselves.
