He trailed off. I don’t know whether the look on my face or whatever I was thinking made it clear that it had to be him. He’d ditched me for every other part of this wild ride. He had to be the one to do this for me.

His hands dropped back to his sides, shoulders sagging. “Okay. Can we go to my house?”
