My lovely fellow Mod decided that we should tell y'all about the afterlife for this next post.

First I would like to introduce you to the roleplays current starclan guide, Owlsight. Owlsight was the first Doctor to be blessed to see the supernatural.

Now they serve as a prophet and ferryman, giving the current doctors prophecies and taking cats to starclan.

Moving on to the meat and potatoes.

The Afterlives

The afterlives in Stars Split are a mix of Warriors canon and fun fanon. There are 3 main afterlife places, this is excluding souls that just get stuck in the world.

The first is Starclan. It is near exactly how it is in canon. A perfect utopia where souls can live together after death. Being within Starclan guarantees safety from the creatures threatening the living. As due to the previous attacks, Starclan is shut off from all afterlives aside from Carrionplace. The only ways out are either to be judged and outcast or to give their souls up for reincarnation or to become one with the stars.

Starclan has several ranks aside from the general population.

The second is the Carrionplace. The Carrionplace is the Dark Forest. But unlike the DF, they cannot access the living. No, the Carrionplace is a land of pure suffering. Once a cat is judged as unworthy by the Stars they will be sent to this rancid he'll. It is a filthy maze underneath heaps of soil. It's made up of pits and tunnels that seem to stretch forever. Each tunnel is tight and pressing, making those who move through them feel like they’re being buried alive. The tunnels are full of thick, red, foul-smelling mud, threatening to collapse anytime. On top of that, the cats have to deal with contrast hunger and rats.

The rats can be killed, but the rancid meat they drop is somehow of worse quality than the mystery meat that seems to seep from the pit walls.

No cat can die once they enter.

The final is known just as "No Clan." No Clan is more of a generic term for all afterlives outside of Starclan. This includes the human afterlives, kittypet afterlife, Loner afterlife, and rogue afterlife. Unfortunately not much is known as contact was severed by Starclan long ago.

Now for those who are stuck outside the afterlives. They can be stuck as ghosts, join the Slaugh, or be snatched up by the many fae.

What is Stars Split?

Stars Split is a WCRP set in Scotland. Years after Skyclan joined the clans, a great tragedy shook the world, and supernatural creatures began to invade. The cats begged Starclan for help, and they gave it in the form of doctors, cats with the ability to see past the supernatural facade.

Years have passed and the five clans have become two, Rumbleclan and Marshclan. They live in a constant struggle for their lives. While they try to push back the supernatural and remain safe, a nearby group of loners has made a name for itself. The Cluster, this group believes that Starclan is actually evil and the fae are to be lived amongst.

Stars Split Legend #2

The Changeling Kit

TW for death, implied kit death, and blood mentions

There was once a queen who would spend every day beside her kit. He was scrawny and often tired but still she loved him.

When he had energy the two of them would play together. They would hunt moss and pick flowers. When he was too tired to play she would lay by his side. Every night she would groom his silvery head. He was her Needlekit, her world.

One day while they were playing in the field she lost him. She called his name and searched desperately until the moon was high in the sky.

She found him sheltered beneath a mossy log. She groomed his golden head and took him back to camp.

Day after day she cared for the false kit. Her energy waned, and her bones began to show, but she never left his side. She had a kit to watch.

The moon which had been a claw sliver when she'd found the kit, was now at its halfway point. The queen could not even open her eyes.

Finally her mate, the leader, took notice. He worried for his mate and kit, so he approached the doctor.

When the doctor came to the queen she found herself horrified. A Changeling Kit suckled at the Queen's belly. She turned on the mate and told him that they must get rid of the Changeling.

Her mate would not hear of it. That was his child. The doctor was just being cold. She was jealous of the queen.

The queen only grew weaker. But the Doctor could do nothing. Every plea she made went unheard. Every appeal she tried was scoffed at.

Until finally the moon was a fat stone in the sky and the queen was dead. Her mate felt the truth but he could not face it. He paced outside of the den, nervous, tired, confused. Then he went in.

He found the parasitic child still suckling at his mate, her blood spilled down his warped, furless face. As he gazed down at his dead family, he could only wish that he'd have listened to his doctor.

Stars Split Legend #1

The First Seer

TW for Starvation and Dog attacks.

Moons after the supernatural invasion, Shadowclan* was suffering. A huge dog, with fur that no cat could see, had devoured every piece of prey within the forest. But the dog was not satisfied with just eating prey. No. It turned its blind maw upon the camp.

At night it would run into camp, snapping and barking. By then it would be too late. No matter how far the cats ran, they could not flee it. They moved their dens, they separated, they hid.

But it always found them.

The young Doctor, barely 7 moons old, prayed to Starclan. She begged them to save her clan. The stars wept for her, but they could not intervene. So instead they did the only thing they could.

They blessed the young Doctor, gave her and her bloodline the eyes of the stars. This allowed her to see the beast.

But that was not enough. Her clan was still weakened, so she and her leader asked Windclan for help.

With her blessing and the backing of Windclan, they were able to kill the dog.

The cats, finally free held a feast in the doctor's honor.

That night the clans joined in laughter and joy. For the first time in moons the stars smiled and their happiness blessed the remaining clans.

*The clan varies between tellers. Most Marshclan cats use Shadowclan while most Rumbleclan cats use Riverclan.

The young Doctor is sometimes called Owlpaw or Owlsight depending on the teller.
