March Writing Boost: COURAGE!
My friends,
The lesson of these past few weeks, as war ravages Ukraine and other parts of the world, is one of the most important: how to be courageous.
I define courage as taking the action, best aligned with your integrity, that you would in the absence of fear.
Read this month's Writing Boost to find out how to be courageous in your writing. I'll also tell you about my Giving Pledge for 2022.
And, for a courage boost there's poetry by Serhiy Zhadan, quoted below!

Does where you write impact your work?
It was such a pleasure chatting with poet rob mclennan about how living in Ottawa for awhile made a lasting impression and changed the way I write. One thing I always enjoy about it is its pace. It's a city that enables the noticing of details. Thanks to Chaudiere Books for this thoughtful discussion!

My slo-mo rebrand
I’ve been slowly renovating my site in advance of launching new writing courses and self-directed trainings this fall. The vibe is more colourful, more inclusive, more creative and more glam rock. I aim to inspire and spark imaginations!
The next step is bringing the same vibe to my social media channels. I’m just starting that! But a quick note of housekeeping is that I updated my Instagram handle to @suzannealyssawriting to reflect the fact this is all about sharing with you, and not so much about me anymore!

Journaling towards imagination

Can you find space for yourself in writing this week? Take some time to explore. Perhaps you’ll find inspiration in your own words. Or, in the words of others. This week’s quote is from My Name Is Why, a memoir by the writer and broadcaster Lemn Sissay. The book is a reflection on Sissay’s childhood in the British institutional care system, and how he arrived at poetry as the one place he could call home.
No matter what’s happening for you this week, there’s a space for you in writing. What will you discover when you follow your imagination?
Warmth and dreams,
Suzanne
(This is from my series on Instagram. Last week I did a video instead of a post. You can find that on Insta @suzannealyssaauthor )
