Presumably the photograph was taken in the late 1800s and depicts a member of probably the last generation of Samurai warriors in Japan Before the Samurai Class ended. He could also be part of the Shizoku (士族) that consisted of former Samurai warriors that merged after the ending of the Samurai Class. The hatch on the body armor is most likely meant for committing Seppuku (切腹) which is a form of honorable suicide.

August Von Mackensen, nicknamed the last Hussar was a respected and prominent German field marshal during World War I. His successful military career lead to him eventually becoming a member of the Prussian state council in 1933.

Audie Murphy, the most decorated American combat soldier during WWII. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery that he demonstrated in 1945, he was also awarded three Purple Hearts, the French Legion of Honour and a list of other medals and awards for different acts of heroism.

Lauri Törni during the Continuation war as a 2nd Lieutenant. He was a Finnish soldier who first fought during the Winter war, later the Continuation war. He then joined the Waffen SS as a Lieutenant. After WWII he changed name to Larry Thorne and moved to USA to later find himself fighting in the Vietnam war as part of the Green Berets. He is known for fighting communism under three different uniforms

C.G.E Mannerheim, the marshal of Finland. He first served in the Tsarist Russian Army as a cavalry Colonel. After Finland declared independence he led the White guards in a bloody Civil war between the Red socialists and the nationalist White. When Russia returned during the Winter war once more he led the Armed Forces in the defence of Finland.

Wilhelm II, The Kaiser of Germany during 1888 to 1918. After losing public support and having his international image ruined by the failure of the German military during World War I he was abdicted and became the last monarch of Germany

My Great Grandfather during his conscription. He was a young family man when he was sent into the Winter war which he fought with his two brothers. He became ill in the Continuation war which eventually led to his death due to lack of supplies and ability to help wounded and ill soldiers by the Finnish Armed Forces.
